AKV 1BR savanna vs. 1BR Club Level?

As new AKV owners, I was wondering about this....Does anyone know how many 1BR Club Level units also have a Savanna view? Can you request one with Member Services?

Concierge consists of a total of FIVE 2BR lockoffs. A 2BR lockoff is a 1BR plus a studio, so it can be rented as a 2BR or can be split up and rented as a 1BR and a studio. Just a guess, but MS will keep at least one (maybe two) of them as 2BRs and split the others up, meaning there will probably be two 2BRs, three 1BRs and three Studios available in Club Level, or maybe one 2BR, four 1BRs and four Studios, depending on the demand for 2BRs.

Three of the 2BR lockoffs face the Sunset Savanna and two face the pool area. You can request a savanna view, but it's just a request, not a guarantee. I expect Club Level will always be fully booked, so many of those who request a savanna view are going to get a pool view.

Thanks Lisa. It sounds like you really have a 50/50 chance with a very small amt. of rooms. Looks like I'll stick w/ our savanna view and stop at Publix on the way from the airport for coffee, juice, snacks and wine ;) . I won't want to chance not having that view with three small kids!

I read somewhere that the fridges in the 1BR Jambo units are not full size. Does anyone know how big they are?

Here's a picture from allears.http://www.allearsnet.com/blogs/lindamac/AJLV09.jpg

It is a good size I think. BCV fridges are about the same and also have no ice maker. I think the larger cutout emphasizes that the fridges are smaller than most of us are used to at home. The space is probably made larger in case future models are larger. Anyway, we find the refrigerators at BCV more than adequate for our needs on vacation.

does anyone have a layout of a 1BR in Jambo? The only one I have been able to find will be the layout in the new building. Concerned that I may need to up-grade to 2 BR for out Halloween Trip!!

Wow- that's the fridge in the 1BR in Jambo? I was expecting much smaller.....perfect for our needs (beverages, fruit, milk, yogurt). Thanks for the info.! Do you know where I can find pics of the rooms in the 1br's at Jambo? I only saw the Kidani unit.

Also, do you need to purchase laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent or are they provided? :worship:

The first picture was from a 1 BR photo tour on allears. Here's the rest:http://www.allearsnet.com/blogs/lindamac/2007/07/opening_day_pictures_from_anim_2.html

A small bottle of dishwashing soap is provided. It is far more than I have ever used. Several packets of dishwaher powder are also included. I've never run out of those either.

One individual box of Tide is provided. I do buy laundry detergent as I do a load/night. I'm also now allergic to Tide but that's another story!

Yes, the refrigerator is fine for us too. But like Doc, my husband considers it not full size. He even asked our guide why it wasn't bigger. :rotfl: But in reality we've always had plenty of room for beverages and snacks.

I have some floor plans but they do not show the furniture so they may not provide the info you're looking for. Here is an excellent set of photos of a Jambo House 1BR from hellerjw's trip: http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slidesh...de=fromshare&Ux=0&mode=fromshare&conn_speed=1 And here is the link to the trip report: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1576223

Here is Mean Queen's trip report with photos of a 1BR: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=20634411

Here is a sample floor plan for a 1BR. I say "sample" because they are not all the same. There are some structural elements that they had to work around in the conversion that affect things in some villas, affecting in some cases the location of the tub/shower in the master bath, whether or not there is a closet in the room, etc.

Thanks Lisa and BCV23 for some GREAT info. and links! MEAN QUEEN mentioned that her room was a long haul from main areas of the hotel. I apologize if this has been covered before, but are there certain rooms to request (savanna view) if we want to be in a more central area?
THANKS AGAIN!

Thanks woody that is just what I needed to know. I had thought the Jambo 1BR had the second bath. I have called and wait listed a 2br based on your layouts. We might be able to make a 1br work but a 2 would be better with our 2 and 4yo that cant sleep in the same room together.

Next question : Can you tell me if the shop has the standard DVC store supply of milk, bread, and eggs?

No, the second bath will only be in the 1BRs in the new building (Kidani Village). Also, as you can see in the floor plan, the Jambo House 1BRs have a combined tub and shower -- no separate shower stall -- and the master bath is all in one room rather than two separate rooms as in the other DVC resorts. So there will be more contention for use of this single bathroom.

The best views of the savanna I think are farther down the trails so they are a long hike. The best view I ever had was at the very end of the trail where the two savannas met and the giraffes congregated every morning.

The worst views of the savannas are rooms that are over the "people fences" - fenced in areas that are there in case the hotel has an evacuation for fire. You have to protect the people from the animals. But they block off the land close to your room and the animals are much farther away than I like. I hate the people pens.

Central area and good savanna views just don't go together.

Okay then, thanks! So I am then willing to forget about a central location. Can you tell me which savanna(s) I might request farther down the trails?:)

It looks like AKV 1BR don't have a large jacuzzi tub like the other resorts. Will that be corrected in the next phase. I love those huge tubs (and so do my boys~ they swim in it ;) )

I think the whirlpool tubs in the new building will be the same. Click on the link in my signature to see photos of the model rooms which represent the Kidani Village rooms. There are two closeup photos of the whirlpool tub in the photos of the 1BR model.

Woody, the AKL FAQ may give you more insight into the various savannas. AKV is so new that there just aren't that many reports yet.

I can say that I loved my 3rd floor Uzima view. I saw many more animals than we did from a 5th floor room that was just a few doors down from the lobby on Zebra Trail.
