AKLV water "play" area - more info about it anywhere?

We're considering buying DVC - and AKLV specifically but I'm curious to know more about the proposed water play area there.

Is it supposed to be something extensive and unusual (compare to other Disney properties) or something more like a toddler splash area?

I was specifically wondering if it is something that would appeal to older kids (like ages 10-through teenager). I can see how BCV water area (Stormalong Bay) would be an attraction unto itself - and appeal to older kids. A place where you could spend a day or two just playing in the pool area. I was wondering if the AKLV water area would be something similar?

Anyone know?

We have been told it will be as special as Stormalong Bay. That's the only information we have to go on though.

According to reserch done by Tjkraz using Orange County permit filings by Disney, the play area, and (relatively small pool) will be nothing like the size and scope of SAB. (The water splash area is spectacular, the pool on the other hand will be smaller than High Rock Springs at SSR) However, I think it will become the second best resort pool area on property.

More spectacular than your "normal every day" water complex, less spectacular than stormalong bay.

Those are great pics - thanks for the info.

I was just thinking about part of the draw of AKLV would be the possibility of going there and just spending time THERE and not always the parks. Perhaps it would be more of a destination in and of itself than some of the other DVC properties - if that makes sense!

I was thinking about maybe waiting to see if the CR construction is a DVC and wouldn't that be cool to be at that instead, etc. Then I was thinking that as much as we love CR that no way could we stand staying there and not having park tickets - being so close to walk to the MK at least for awhile every day. Then I was thinking that maybe I'd rather not spend so much money on park tickets each trip - LOL!

We spent an entire week at AKL back in October 2003 (got a good deal, used our points for other things) when we were renovating our house. It was a spectacular trip (other than the RedSox losing to the Yanks in the ALCS) and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our one regret after the trip was that we did not spend more time just hanging out at the resort.

I know what Selket means about AKV becoming a destination in itself. When Kidani Village opens up, I can see us finishing a trip there, just relaxing at the resort, the way we do at VB. I just wich I could convince DW that we needed some AKV points...
