Has anyone stayed at this resort with a child close to this age? If so, did they seem to enjoy it? Did you have a savannah view room? If so, did they even notice the animals? Just wondering if this would be a good choice for a child this age.

Also, how long is the bus ride to the MK?

I spent 4 years working day care with 2s and 3s. I find generally that one big thing is easier for little ones to concentrate on than many things here and there. As far as pointing stuff out to entertain a 2-year-old, I'd recommend the All-Star Movies or Music.

Other than that, I don't think tiny kids would have any preference re: hotel. As long as they're with Mom, they're good-to-go.

We took our 2 and 3 year olds over to AKL while we were staying at ASMo for dinner at Boma back in March. They loved it there. There are many places to look at animals. I thought it was a beautful resort. We hope to stay there soon.

ASMo is also great for two year olds because of the theming.

My DD was 3 last Oct. when we took her and DS and she loved it. We had a pool view and she is a good swimmer with the life jacket on so she even went down the slide. She thought the giraffe was awesome. I think at these ages the kids are happy anywhere but I would let her age hold you back from AKL it was fantastic.

My nephew had just turned 3 a few days before his first trip to AKL and he LOVED it!! :flower:

We just got back from a week at the AKL where my dd celebrated her 2nd birthday. She LOVED it!! She practically was hanging over the balcony to watch the animals, I had to physically remove her from the balcony when we were leaving the room because she just wanted to stay there. Between her wanting to watch the animals, and my 5 year old wanting to stay in the pool the entire time they would have been happy if we never left the resort!!!

I have also stayed at the AKL with my 2 year old. She loved it. It rained one day so we walked around and saw the animals and AKL staff always had activites on hand. The best thing my 2 yr old liked was the 0 Depth Entry Pool. That is always my favorite too. They also have a cute playgroung and pink flamingos right by the pool to watch. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I say 3 CHEERS for the AKL!!!

Your 2 year old will love AKL - having said that if you are looking to save some $ consider staying at a mod or value and then going to AKL and the public viewingf areas of staying in a standard or pool view at AKL and then taking her to the public viewing areas.

One neat thing to do is to take your kid(s) to the fireplace pit outside of the far side of the lobby and read a story to them

Our boys can't wait to stay there or at the Toaster Hotel (CR) again! (They are almost 6 and 2.5)..

cheers

My 2 year old loved it! We loved it as well, and enjoyed the balcony and view after he went to sleep at night.

When our first DS was 2 we took him there and he loved watching the animals. In fact it was a very nice babysitter. He was so excited about the animals being fairly close to him and being able to watch them for long periods of time.

Thanks for all of the replies! It looks like we may be staying there, but getting a pool view instead of a savannah view.

I'm still curious in knowing how long the bus ride is to MK. Does someone care to estimate? Or know exactly?

Thanks again!

I am not sure about the bus ride. But if you get the pool view make sure to ask for a complimentary upgrade at check in. I have stayed there 3 times with a std view and have always been upgraded to Savannah. They may not be able to but it won't hurt to ask.

Our DD was 2 the first time we stayed at AKL. She absolutely LOVE it there. She actually made us sleep at the end of the bed so we could go to sleep watching the animals and wake up watching them. She also LOVE the stories at the firepit. We tried to make it back every night so she could hear them. Us adults also had a great time. This is our favorite resort. We just love how peaceful and quite it is. Coming back from a long day at the parks that are crowded it is heavenly! Have a great trip.
Oh and the bus system here was the best we have ever had at an resort. It is never crowded you always get a seat. And we never waited more than 5 min. for a bus. I believe it takes about 15 min. to get to the MK from the AKL but trust me you'd never know it!

HI! When we were there in July, it took us exactly 13 minutes to get to the MK from AKL. The bus service is excellent. We are going back next July, also.

I just wanted to chime in about the AKL bus. I love it that AKL has it's own bus, no sharing with other resorts, so it's basically a straight ride to wherever you're going.

We went for a meal there with out 2.5 year old kid and afterwards went to the Lookout area. He loved that. Kids that age know what a giraffe and a zebra are so they will really like the animals.
