AKL - which savannah? Uzima or Arusha?

We have booked AKL, YAY! We love animals and would love to see as much activity as possible. We requested Uzima, but the animals on Arusha seem pretty great? I know they are pretty similar, but does anyone have a preference?

Favorite savannahs are indeed, a personal preference. I prefer the very back of the Uzima savannah due to the fact the mommy ankole lives there and we watched her through her second pregnancy and later her actions with her baby. She is now on baby #3 and you know what savannah I'll be on in July if my requests are met! My ds,dd and I all agree the walk is worth it for the spectacular views w/o seeing another hotel room in sight!

#1hockeymom Booked my AKL stay yesterday. Unfortunately, there weren't any CL rooms avail. for my dates. We booked a Deluxe Qn, bunks and day. I requested the zebra trail. Anything else you think I should be aware of?

I would also like to know. We are set to stay here in March and have the same room type booked. Have no idea what type of view to request.

Mickey Fliers, thank you for the accolades! They made me smile! I have the great people at the DIS and many "lizards" to thank for where my knowledge came from before my first trip to AKL. Then.. it was fate.. and trip, after trip, after trip had to be booked in the same location! When I say "home" it really does feel like "home" to us there!

Zebra Trail has the ability to be closer to the pool entrance/mara/ etc yet still have either Uzima or Arusha savannah views. You can also get pool view on this trail if you are from the beginning of the trail to the first "wing" There is an elevator ends right out by Simba's Cub House which will put you right out by the kiddie pool. Thus, you can go to the pool w/o being anywhere near the lobby!

Many people prefer Arusha Savannah, and it does have the addition of Zebra on the middle savannah. I like to explore that savannah on my own going to the rock or just the different look out areas. We rarely would walk "straight" to our destinations when on AKL property, but tended to stop and watch through the windows, or go find another area to explore.

Watch out for Zawadi Marketplace! At first glance it is a great store.. on second, third, fourth stop you'll be spending more and more of your money here! I have never made a purchase though that I didn't lovingly look at months later!

AKL wasn't on my "short list" of planned vacations, but was my mom's choice when I gave her a list of places she could go for her first Disney visit ever. From a person who didn't think they would like the theming- then fast forward to a quickly changing living room, AKL brings back memories of past trips and holds the memories yet to be made.

We go back in less than two months! WOO HOOO!
