AKL was fantastic!

I'll be posting a trip report, but I just wanted to let anyone who is considering this resort to go for it! DH and I just got back from 6 nights at AKL (2 nights at Portofino) and all we can say is WOW! We were in room 2511... Arusha Savannah, Zebra Trail. This room is incredible! The cost of a savannah view is well worth it, IMHO. Please feel free to ask any questions... I'll do my best to help!

Corvair... the location couldn't have been better! Our bellhop looked at the room number and asked us who we knew to get this room! Our TA, Josephine, from Our Laughing Place Travel, made our room request. We were on the second floor, which was incredible, just passed the elevators. We always used the stairs located right before the elevator to get to the pool and Mara (both were very close). I highly recommend the lower floors as you can see more close up. Mike and I went up to the higher floors and weren't as impressed with the view. I think that now that the trees are really maturing, the higher floors are suffering in view. I'm sure that those who have stayed higher up have their own opinions, though!

Pigsty and adisneynut... we actually loved the resort so much that we are canceling our Disney cruise and spending an extended amount of time (12 days hopefully) at the AKL. We didn't get to do all of the wonderful things that the resort offered, so we need longer to accomplish everything. A word of warning... the animals are addictive! We slept with the drapes open every night and we'd sit up and look out the window whenever we woke up at night. One night Mike actually forced me to sleep with the drapes closed so that we'd actually sleep instead of watching all of the time! I hope that you do get a chance to go, adisneynut! It's something that everyone should experience!

DH and I have always stayed at WL and are considering trying the AKL. Everyone really seems to enjoy it there!

Mrsltg, your post was lovely! I can hardly wait!! We too wanted the second floor but have a deluxe savannah and found out that they are all on the 5th floor! We are crossing our fingers and hoping for an upgrade to concierge. Our disney travel agent put that in out requests since they would not give us a discount with the disney club for concierge. I know that I won't be able to sleep a week out!!! There are 7 of us in 2 rooms.

We loved the AKL too- it's a wonderful resort!!! We stayed right down the hall from you in 2427. Ou room was before the elevators. My kids named the 3 Ankole Ed, Edd and Eddie-lol.
