Just spent one night at AKL in a value studio after spending a few nights in a standard studio at BWV. We lucked out and got a savanna view and there’s nothing better then ending your vacation with two giraffes enjoying a meal in front of your room. We kept saying what a great deal for 12 points lol especially since we last stayed at AKL for our disneymoon before we joined DVC. All my hubs remembers was it cost $$$. We are thinking of adding on with some BLT points and after today, he’s interested in AKL :joker: but I still think BLT is a better choice. Our current home is Poly. Plus I told him value rooms can be tough to book even for owners.

I would go with AKL as the add on over BLT, especially since you already own at a monorail resort. AKL is something special.

If you get AKL. DO keep looking until you can find a contract in the same Use Year as your other contract. At least then, during the 7 month window, you can combine all the points and use them together, except for Riviera.

Oh, yes-I remember when I got a savannah view value studio. It was such a great feeling, like I'd won the lottery or something.

Yep. Back before Kidani was sold out, I was able to get a value studio with a savanna view. I loved it.

I also booked a value studio back in the day and got a parking lot view. So I can confirm that they exist. (But it was still very convenient for rolling myself back to my room after getting carried away at the Boma buffet. :) )

I LOVE AKV. I'm excited for my 2 nights at a value studio before a convention in Orlando. The stars aligned and I snagged a value at less than 30 days out (showed up the Sunday before my points were loaded on my new BCV contract). I was able to call Member Admin first thing Monday morning and they loaded my points and booked it for me. So excited!

I have had several stays in AKV value studios and one stay in a value 2-BR. Every time, we have gotten pool view. This Thanksgiving, we have three value studios booked. I am hoping with that many, at least one of them will be savannah view! If so, my DH and I will take that one and leave the other ones for the rest of our family. LOL!

Are the Value Studios the same size & floorplan of a standard studio?
Likewise are the Value 1BR the same size/floorplan as standard 1BR ?
I'm thinking of adding on at AKV, and hoping with 11Mo. ressies we could get Value Studio or Value 1BR in January ??

Value rooms are smaller (3 feet shorter, IIRC). That's the trade off. There are not a lot of them, so they can be tough to book. Parts of January are still fairly busy for DVC bookings.

But it is possible at 11 months. Value 1BRs are probably easier than studios - but be aware that due to the smaller size, they don’t fit the sleeper chair and occupancy maxes out at 4.

As mentioned the Values are approx 3 feet less on length. They were converted from standard AKL hotel rooms whereas the rest of Jambo was converted from Deluxe AKL hotel rooms.

Thank you Kat4disney & Chalee94 !
I think the 1BRs would be worth pursuing.

Shhhhhhh!!! It is getting next to impossible to get a Value Studio these days unless you are lucky enough to snag a few stray days...I think they're awful :laughing::laughing:

Consider yourself fortunate you get pool view. I’m 3 for 3 in Value Studios - parking lot view. :(

3 for 3 with Parking Lot View! - Is that why you're Crabby, Dan ?:rotfl2:
Sounds like a risky proposition to buy AKV, in hopes to get the Value Rooms??

Nah! I’ve been crabby for 40 years.

Yes it’s definitely a risky proposition to buy AKV in hope of getting a Value Studio. Foolish, in my opinion. It’s so easy to “walk” now it’s gotten to the point it’s not worth trying at 11 months at 8 AM. Waitlisting is probably the best way to get one, unless you’re a dedicated “walker.”

It's not easy to walk it, if you only own at SSR! :)
It's a financial advantage to buy enough AKV points to cover 2 weeks in an AKV Value Studio, compared to the number of SSR points needed for 2 weeks in a Std SSR Studio. But it only works if you can actually book the Value Studio at 11 Months.
