AKL: switching from Concierge to savannah view. Tell me it'll be ok! (LONG)

If the OP wants to stay in a regular savannah view room for her whole stay, but still do 1 night concierge, she could add it for the last night. That way there wouldn't be the problem of AKL giving an 'upgrade' to a deluxe room.

I also agree that the 2nd floor view is 10000x better than the 5th floor, and after we stayed on the 5th floor this past October, we considered downgrading from concierge for our next trip as well just to ge the floor we want. We decided to keep concierge for now since it's our honeymoon, but we're still undecided.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I had my kids read the replies, and they're on my side now!

I would have liked the Sunrise Safari, but when I spoke to the CM when I changed my ressie, she said if we go to AKL on the EMH day and be on the first Safair ride of the morning, it's almost as nice as the Sunrise, even without the special guide and Tusker House thrown in.

I feel relieved, that I made a good decision for our family.
Looking forward to having a wonderful and magical time at AKL!

Now I just have to figure out how to change my countdown clock to remove concierge LOL!

We did the same thing last March - I made AKL concierge res., and then thought about all the restaurants we like to try while at WDW. I just couldn't justify the expense of concierge to basically have a different room key and feel special!!! I also make all my own PS's and we get so stuffed at WDW restaurants that the snacks wouldn't have been worth that extra$$$!!! So I switched to Sav. view and we were delighted with our room, and our stay! My DD(14), who at first was a little disappointed about the Sunrise Safari, later admitted that we would never have used any of the other concierge amenities.

One visit to WDW we spent the last night of our trip staying at the AKL concierge. We loved it. It was a perfect way to end our trip. We checked in about 9:30 in the morning and we only left the resort to go to DTD to pick up our DS's bday presents. We had the best time hanging out at the resort all day and night. We didn't even get to do alot of the events the resort offered (cookie decorating at Boma's, and so on).
We are going to WDW in a couple of weeks and after our stay at the WL we are going to end our trip doing AKL concierge. We will do it again this summer.
Maybe you could end your trip staying in concierge. That is if you don't feel like moving.
