I've gotten our choices down to either a standard view at AKL or a garden view wing at the Cont. Is the standard view at AKL parking lot or is it okay?

We stayed in a standard view room at the AKL & overlooked the handicapped parking lot. Now before you get disappointred, keep a couple of things in mind. First, there was plenty of vegetation - trees & plants - between our balcony & the parking lot, & it was actually very peaceful. Secondly, there are plenty of opportunities to view the animals from the viewing areas. There are CMs throughout the viewing areas who are delighted to answer questions & chat about the animals, their culture, whatever. When you check in, read through the informaiton & try to take advantage of any resort activities like evening storytelling, lobby tour, etc. Also, be adventureous & try the food. We have enjoyed all our meals at Boma's & Mara's. HAVE FUN!

The Contemporary is so modern appearing, and is very hotel-like. It is also super convenient to have the monorail, especially if you are going to spend much time at the MK. The Animal Kingdom is spectacular, very much like the WL. Heavily themed and well thought out, although kind of off the beaten path for the parks, except AK & Blizzard Beach.

Either way, you're sure to have a magical time!

I would not stay in an AKL standard room again - IMO. We were up high and looked out at Highway 192 in the distance. We could see gas stations, etc. We could also hear vehicles and buses in the parking lot. I love AKL and I love the animal viewing areas, but my next stay, I'm splurging for a savannah view. :)

We just returned from AKL, standard view rooms 4027 and 4029, connecting with parking lot view. There were lots of trees and foliage between us and the parking lot, and plenty of places close by to view the animals. For the money, I would do the standard view again.

Just curious....
When is this for??
We are going in June and were told Contemporary was completely sold out for the whole month, even at rack rate. The wings are filled with the Shades of Green guests and the Tower is full too.
What kind of rates were you quoted?
