Hi!!!

I was able to book the AP standard room rate at $114 in July. What is a good area to request so I can get a fairly good view? I know rooms and areas are not guaranteed, but it is worth a shot!

Thanks!

 Ask for either Ostrich Trail or Giraffe Trail, these are both close to the lobby and the bus stop. We were there last month and had a standard room booked and were upgraded to a savannah view, but it was all the way out at the end of Kudu Trail, which is a pretty good walk from the lobby, so we requested to be close to the bus stop and were given a room in Ostrich Trail. The view was of the drive in front of the lobby, but it was a short walk out the front door and down to the bus stop, which is all we cared about. I wouldn't want a room overlooking the pool, because I think it would be pretty noisy.

A standard view room will give you just that...a standard view...of either the parking lot or the area where the valet is.

Not many good views with a standard view. But its still ok. Lots to see just walking around the resort. We also got a night at that price. Its a great price and worth not a great view. Just walk around and you will see lots.

On the positive side even if you get an expensive room sometimes there are no animals to see. We have stayed there several times and sometimes when we had a savannah room we had wonderful animals to see. But other times we saw nothing. So now we take the standard room if we can get it with the code.

I agree with the last post. We stayed on the Savannah and saw very few animals. We saw much more just by walking around. It is hit or miss I believe.

We just booked a Pool View with a room only discount code. How are the views from the Pool View rooms? Is there a specific location we should request?

We just returned from a pool view (3018) room. It had a teeny-tiny savannah view which the guy from bell services really played up when he brought our bags up. If we used our binoculars or squinted we could see an animal or a bird. We laughed about it.

To the left of our balcony was a tree with pretty yellow flowers and about 3 million bumble bees! They never bothered us, but it was a sight to see!

The resort is gorgeous to explore, and we didn't spend a lot of time in the room so not having a savannah view was okay with us. We went to all the viewing areas and saw a good variety of animals when we had time. We did the night vision goggles as well which was really neat.

I thought Animal Kingdom Lodge was unique and beautiful. However, after staying there we decided that staying once was enough for us. We were not happy with the cramped rooms and we felt a bit isolate there. We like the resorts where you can walk or boat to other resorts and or parks. I did not like the Caribbean Beach Resort for the same reason.

We just booked the AKL for a late August vacation. Reading these posts we are having second thoughts. We have been to WDW five times but never at AKL. For AKL fans (and those that didn't like it) can you provide any opinions?
