I usually stay at the Poly, but would like to try a room at the Animal Kingdom. Thoughts on staying in a regular room in the Animal Kingdom Lodge with Savanna view versus a one-bedroom villa in the Kidani Village? I guess it comes down to Less space with view of animals versus more space with a standard view. Although, I wonder if it is better to stay in the AKL versus Kidani? Appreciate your input.

My vote would be for Kidani. Full disclosure, I've only stayed at AKL CL (which has a savannah view) and AKV-Jambo, 1-bedroom standard view. The savannah view was nice, but, honestly, we saw guinea fowl most of the time with a few larger animals here and there. The AKL rooms are quite small. On the other hand, we really enjoyed the space in the 1-bedroom and, though I would prefer staying in Jambo, Kidani is lovely and is very close to Jambo. You can always walk over there or take an internal shuttle. I just booked a 1-bedroom, value, in Jambo this morning. We will plan on seeing the animals in the public viewing areas and will enjoy the space in our 1-bedroom!

I've stayed in both buildings, but I've only stayed with a savanna view. For me personally, the hotel is only worth staying if I have that view. I find the hotel beautiful and unique and love sitting out on my balcony and watching the animals, I just don't find the public spaces as convenient or special. If the price of the savanna view is too high for me I book at a different hotel. Most hotels I don't really care what my view is and stay in standard a lot, for Animal Kingdom Lodge I stay specifically for the view.

Between the two buildings, I liked Jambo (the main building) better. The lobby has that wow factor when you walk in, it's close to the quick service Mara, which is really great and has two restaurants in the building. I did enjoy the space of the one-bedroom at Kidani, but the room is really dark (the normal rooms are too) I did like being able to park our car right under the building though beneath our room to avoid a long walk.

I would pick the normal room at Jambo

Once we stayed at the AKL and were upgraded to a pool view on an upper floor in Jambo. It was soooo beautiful! The best view I’ve ever seen. We could only see animals from other places both indoors and outdoors at the resort. I believe that the pool view from an upper floor is hard to beat at this resort. Very relaxing.

I would take the 1 bedroom vs Savannah view. There are so many nice area's to watch the animals off of the lobby. I think you will appreciate the additional space vs the view out your balcony.

How many are in your party? I just stayed at AKL in a DVD studio Savannah View and I think it was one of the best views I have encountered at any of the resorts. Originally, we had a room that would offer views of the pool but it was under construction while we were there so we decided to upgrade.

I had thought about Kidani Village too for the 1 bedroom villa. I went back and forth about it and decided I wanted to stay in Jambo house to be closer to Boma and see that grand lobby.

What was under construction, the pool, or the room in Jambo?

The Kidani one bedroom villa has 2 full bathrooms. The public viewing opportunities are excellent at both buildings. We prefer Kidani for anything larger than a studio bc of the extra bathroom. The determining factors, for me, would the make up of the party. How many people in the room? What are their ages?
