There is a thread for AKL near the top of the board. Also nuts4dizny has posted plenty of shots of the lodge, concierge, and room. I believe you can pick either 2 queens and a daybed( for 5 persons) or 1 queen with bunk beds(for 4 people.

I believe most rooms for concierge offer savannah views. There are a few that offer pool view but I beleive that these are smoking rooms.

I wouldn't hesitate to book concierge in a heartbeat. Everything was great.

Maybe somebody else can give you more info.

We just got back. We stayed concierge, too, but our room was on the 5th floor - 6th floor is the dedicated concierge floor, and also where the Kilamanjaro Club (the lounge) is located.

We were on the Kudu trail, so we had great views of the savannah and Arusha rock. It was something of a hike to the elevators to get to the Kilamanjaro Club, but no big deal.

This was our first ever concierge stay anywhere, and the pampering level was outstanding. BUT - if I had to choose between concierge and a pool view, or non-concierge and a savanna view, then I'd go for the non-concierge in a heartbeat. The view from your balcony is what makes the AKL, IMO.

I guess it depends on what "extras" you'd expect from staying concierge, compared to the extra outlay of $$ (and if that's not an issue, then don't fret.) We stayed on DVC points. For the extra points/$$, we got all the food goodies at the concierge lounge - we managed breakfast there nicely, and one evening indulged in the heavy "snacks." We had turndown service, altho I think that can be requested no matter where your room is. And, we didn't use concierge for pre-trip planning like we could've, but that might be a plus for you.

Misty, there's some great photos around here somewhere. Personally, if I were gonna spend more time at the resort as opposed to the parks, concierge is great, but if you're mostly gonna use your room for sleeping, then I'm not sure if I'd think the extra outlay would be worth it.

I know I sound ambivilent. It's because I am.

Greetings from a fellow NC'er. We're headed to AKL concierge in early Feb. Haven't been to Disney in over 10 years. The staff has been great. Just to let you know - not all concierge rooms are savanah view. There are some that are pool view. We have a king room requested (and told them about it being our delayed honeymoon, and staff assured me it would be no problem). I have been told by others that the pool view rooms are all smoking optional whereas the savanah are non-smoking. DH and I both have to have non-smoking for medical reasons and had this noted on our reservation. If having a non-smoking room (or smoking for that matter) is important, make sure to note it. Smoking on balconies is not permitted, even in smoking rooms.
When are you heading down?

AKL Concierge rooms are EITHER Deluxe Savanna or Deluxe Poolview - and they say they cannot confirm - just request.

TIP - A concierge told me that if someone in your party has asthma (spelling??) then they will guarantee you a non smoking room - which would be the 5th floor savanna view - away from the 6th floor which has smoking rooms which are pool view.

I don't know if this is true but it came form the horses mouth.

I stayed on at AKL concierge and had a room on the 5th floor on the Kudu trail... it was just off the rope bridge on the 5th floor and although a little bit of a walk to the concierge lounge elevator - we really enjoyed the walk.. passed the windows in the halls for other views of the animals and across the rope bridge that spans the lobby.

I had a look inside a 6th floor savanna room - (was being serviced after guest checked out) the view of the savanna is slightly obstructed as you look down over alot of thatched roof area from the hotel below.... these rooms also have a bit of a differnet balcony - sort of closed in more - with a thatched roof with a little peak at the top.
