AKL Question

We always stay at CSR, love the resort, love the bus service, just have never gone wrong. This summer is my 50th Birthday and will be there for 12 days in June, and thinking about upgrading to AKL for something different. Have eaten dinner there, but never stayed. How is the Bus Service, and the pool? Looking at here or possibly at 1 Bedroom Villa at SSR, but that is about $800 more, so will probably just go AKL if we decide to upgrade. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, CJ

Well if you are used to the bus service from csr, the resorts are both in the same general area :)

We love AKL. They have two pools (one at Jambo and one at kidani) and you can use both. They even have a shuttle going between the two. The one at Kidani is normally a little less busy, but both are so expansive that you never feel like there's too many people.

As for buses, there's two stops, one at kidani and one at Jambo. Coming back from the parks, Jambo is always the second stop. We never waited long for buses at all.

I don't think you could ever go wrong with a stay here. We love everything about it. The quick service location offers great options. The grounds are stunning. And sitting in the big rocking chairs is dreamy.

It has been several years sine I stayed there, and I always like Disney transportation, so keep this in mind with my thoughts.

I love AKL. I think that of all the Disney resorts, AKL is the one that transports you a World away, all the way to lands i only dream of visiting. From the moment you go through those huge wooden doors you are no longer in Florida, and are in the midst of Africa. Just pure magic.

It is a large resort really, and the corridors can be long depending on where you are located. I think that Mara the CS restaurant is one of the best onsite, with plenty of options to choose from, and is very convenient to the pool, which is outstanding. The lounging area around the pool is large, with plenty of places in and out of shade.

I am one of those people who never complains about buses and AKL bus service was really good, IMO. Much better than the bus service at the Epcot resorts, IMO. The bus area is cool and shaded/

If you have a chance to stay at AKL, and you are willing to commit some time to really enjoying the resort, I would say that any negatives are far outweighed by the positives that this resorts offers.

Thanks for your reply's, I decided to upgrade and stay at AKL, really excited about it and only 54 days to go.

We've never stayed at CSR, but we love AKL. We've had 2 great stays and visit every trip to eat at Boma and we have never had a problem with transportation. AKL is out away from everything, but in our experience, it has taken maybe 5 extra minutes to get around compared to other resorts. Since the buses only service AKL and Kidani, there's no sharing with any other resort(s). We also love the pool and overall atmosphere of the lodge. If the extra cost is doable, I'd go with AKL. Good luck.

Have fun!!! My niece and her partner really want to stay there. I would love to join them on that trip! I miss AKL, and will use any excuse to go back.

For evening transport to dining at other resorts or for tight schedules at a park farther away we used uber and that was awesome and affordable. Make sure to schedule some time early morning and early evening to sit on your balcony and enjoy the animals if you have a view room. We would go down in the morning for coffee and pastry then bring it up to watch the show...magic!!
