AKL or POR/POFQ???

I've never been to Disney so I have no idea what to choose and I've been to the official website and allears and here. We are 2 adults. We are looking to go during their savings after August 15. 5 nights.

We don't have a lot of money and SHOULD stay at All Stars Music, but a girl can dream and when making my spreadsheet of prices (yes I love spreadsheets). I noticed that we can get a standard room at AKL for only 5 dollars more than staying at POFQ (king room) and about 34 dollars per night more than POR.

Decor wise my taste is more Port Orleans, but I LOVE animals and I think I'd enjoy AKL too. Also since AKL is a deluxe does that mean its alot nicer than the moderate?

Since it's your first time, go big. Stay at AKL and you won't regret it. That's our favorite resort and always stay there during each of our trips. There's alot for you to read up on regarding the resort, but it's one of the most beautiful places on all WDW property. Once you stay there, it will be hard to stay elsewhere in the future.

We loved it such much that we've got two Disney souvenirs: DD7 (AKL Dececember 2003) and DD1 (AKL August 2010).

Thanks for your response! It's sooooo funny you wrote this. One reason we are going is because we recently had a failed IVF cycle (ectopic pregnancy so it kinda worked...) and are gearing up for another in September. I am just beyond stressed out and we haven't been on a vacation in years and I just suddenly decided Friday that we needed a vacation before I go through that **** again. But hey maybe we will have some Disney magic and get pregnant the old fashioned way finally (after over 4 years trying).

For $5 more a night, you can stay in a deluxe with a more private and exotic environment, with more food options and a vastly superior pool. I liked POFQ, but AKL is way sexier.

Yeah we r definitely going for AKL after researching more.

Now if we can swing it financially....

Watch for discounts or free dining. check often on disney world's web site, AKL is amazing, even more if you love animals

We've stayed at both POFQ and AKL. We enjoyed both for varying reasons. You will not be disappointed if you end up at either. If there's only a $5 difference you're looking at for the king room at POFQ vs. the AKL room, then I would most definitely without hesitation go to AKL. While POFQ was nice, AKL is truly amazing. The setting is so unique and beautiful. The richness the experience holds with the animals and the cultural representatives from Africa are wonderful. You get the added experience of Disney fun and feeling like you've gone to Africa as well. It is very relaxing and a nice break away from the parks. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at POFQ again, though, so if financially you can't swing AKL, you will still have a wonderful stay.
