My 180 day ADR mark is coming up. We are visiting for the first time as parents and I don't want to make too many ADRs and have to cancel. We are staying at Kidani - so I'm wondering about just using the lounges for dinner. If we show up at the lounges (either the Sanaa or Jiko one) are we likely to get a spot? I remember waiting forever for the Jiko one last time we were there - but I think we went at like 7 or 8pm.

Thanks :)

Kidani's lounge is very small. I've had good success in getting a seat but you can order the entire menu at the bar there so people tend to eat in there a lot.
Victoria falls is larger but limited menu.
I'd plan on trying to get there early and send someone to the lounge to grab a seat while you check in. They both are very busy lounges and you are going at peak times.

very true.
Personally, I enjoy Victoria Falls more for the atmosphere.
Both will give you a glass that you can take outside to sit around the fire.

Thanks both. I've only eaten at the Jiko lounge which I remember to have quite a few tables - but they filled up fast!

The lounge at Sanaa stayed full but tables seemed to turn over often, as many of us were just waiting for our table and not eating a full meal. I liked the lounge at Victoria Falls but there was a game on the last time we went and it was PACKED and no one was moving.

Jiko lounge was near empty at 6:30 when we arrived for dinner and by 8 when we left, it was very full but I don't know how much traffic was due to those waiting on tables vs those staying awhile.

I think you'd be fine to count on lounge dining, esp if you are flexible with waiting a few minutes for a party to leave when their table is ready.

Okay, thanks. I'm thinking too if one parent can go down and wait the other can distract the tot with animals/playground etc.
