AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

We will be there May 20-26 (AKL)... very excited! It's my husband & I, plus our two sons, ages 8 & 10.

Does anyone know if the AKL daily activity schedules come out in advance and if so, how does one see them? Or do we just see it when we get there?

Thanks!

We are taking a surprise LAST MINUTE trip for DD's 4th bday on 2/24-2/27 and opted to go with AKL CL. We will also have DS 4months, DH and myself. I'm trying to learn everything I can about the resort given such a short trip. We will do mornings with long afternoon break and evenings at parks. I *might* try to schedule a early character breakfast before leaving on Thurs morning.

1. Do all CL rooms have savannah views? Are they the Arusha view? What is the difference? Is there a good/great chance we will see plentiful animals in afternoons/early mornings?

2. Does the CL offer light lunch/dinner items? Does anyone have a run down of what type of offerings? Is there bottled water offered?

3. Is AK accessible by bus only still?

Any other tips would be SPECTACULAR as it's our first CL and AKL experience.

We'll be there 8/17-8/23. We were originally planning on POR but hubby wanted to return to AKL making the kids very happy!

I was hoping to find an activities schedule from last May to get an idea of activities and times. Did find one for the current month , which gives me a good idea of the activities they have. You can find it at themouseforless website. Under activities on the resort's page. Hope it helps!

Thank you! Very excited.

Are Jambo and Kidani considered to be true sister resorts or even a single resort? Basically, I'm asking if it's permitted for those staying at one to swim at the other if you're an obsessive compulsive rule follower.

I'm going to give it another shot at an earlier question. Does anybody have a picture of the soda fountain in Mara? I'd love to know exactly which drinks are available.

I would vote for Jambo, in that case. Our youngest daughter (22 months) didn't want to leave the splash area. Even when it was 50 degrees outside. And I've never found the buses to be problematic, whether we stayed at Jambo or Kidani in terms of the time it takes to get from the resort to the parks and back. And as DizDaD7 points out, you'll be on the bus for less time if you board at Jambo House. My husband went to Disney every summer growing up. They always stayed at the Poly or the Contemporary (which were the only resorts at the time). We've stayed together at the Poly, the Wilderness Lodge, and AKL. AKL is the only resort he will go to now. The only reason I booked a bounceback for YC is I'll be going with my older kids and my mom (whose favorite park is Epcot).

I may need you to tell me everything about taking a 22 month to both AKL and Disney in general!! I'm so excited to take my complete family to Disney, but a bit apprehensive about the little guy. Do you have a TR or anything?

Yes, Jambo and Kidani are part of AKL. You may swim in both pools and use all the facilities as long as you are staying at AKL.

As far as the soda fountain in the Mara, this link is a review done by Disney food blog and has lots of photos to satisfy anyone with OCD! I know it made me very happy! If you can't click on it, just go to google and put in Disney The Mara Review then choose the one by "Disney Food Blog". Hope that helps!

Thank you!! That really is the perfect link for OCD types like myself. I won't have to order Coke Zero for my DH though I'll have to order drinks for my kids since there's nothing at the fountain they can drink as they won't drink carbonated beverages and they're allergic to lemons (so no lemonade) and milk (so not hot chocolate).

Ooooh, can you get the Gourmet Ice drinks using the refillable mugs? The picture doesn't show if they're self-serve or not and if they are I'm hoping they're like the old frozen coke machines that used to be at Pop Century. I'm guessing not but I'm certainly willing to ask.

I've got 2 full resort days planned during my trip. I think after our brunch at Boma we'll have to head over and spend the rest of the day in the Kidani pool. Yes we're the kind of people who swim in February. We're Canadians who live in New England. What can I say? If it's over 45 degrees I'll let my kids swim though I'll just sit by the side of the pool unless it gets up to at least 65, preferably 70 degrees. Thank goodness for heated pools.

FYI: I'll be staying at AKL 02/21/14 - 03/02/14.

1. Yes, Arusha Savanna view, which is the best Savanna. We found we saw no animals in the morning, but tons between 3 and 6 pm, give or take. This was last April, it cod depend on the season, weather, etc.

2. As was said, just chips, gummies, etc., for lunchtime, appetizers for dinner time. Breakfast had good pastries, bagels, muffins, cold cereal, oatmeal, etc.

3. Yup

I was going to post something very brief, but it was more about our magic band and fast pass + experience (which were very good over all). FP+ worked very well with our touring style. The only hiccup came when everyone decided to go to see Rapunzel with DD9 (instead of Space Mountain, which shocked me, to be honest). I thought smoke would come out of my iphone. When I couldn't get it to work in the parks, I stopped at the Kidani concierge to see if she could. She couldn't get it to work, either, so she added three fast passes to our account that could be used for any ride at MK once we returned that night. So if anyone has a problem with FP+, try the concierge. It worked out well for us.

saysib - I'll PM you with my observations. It was tougher with our daughter this time, but she has a very different personality from my other kids. I suspect it was more of an Aria problem, than a toddler problem. I will say, if yours is squirmy, watch for your magic band. The only time mine came off was when I picked her up and she was trying to get back down. Not sure if posting to youtube is okay here. I have a video of her dancing at Jambo House to the drums. She LOVED them, and was quite upset when they were put away.

I've stayed at AKL five times - three times club level. I've never not seen giraffes. This trip was slightly disappointing in regards to the animals, but it was pretty cold for Florida (at least two days in the low fifties, so I think they were hiding from the chill). But we still saw them. :)

We are staying feb 24-28, akl savannah view bunk bed, I'm soo excited! Please pray for good weather
