Hey all. Just returned from a stay at AKL. First 6 nights were in DVC one bedroom villa in Jambo on rented points. Last two nights added due to snow and then illness. Stayed in two different "standard" rooms.
Some observances: Our DVC points were for a standard room, but we ended up with a Savanna view. Room was way at the end of the building, far from the lobby and that walk got very, very long. Having only the one bathroom (as opposed to two in most DVC one bedroom villas) was a bit of a hassle with three ladies, but we managed ok. Having separate sleeping quarters was GREAT. Because the DVC rooms on Jambo were retrofitted, there is a little bit of weirdness. Kitchen cabinets that don't open all the way and the like, but not a big deal.
The original shower head we had was non-adjustable and very, very strong and needle sharp. Very painful. Called maintenance and got it replaced with one of those handheld type shower heads. Much better.
The Joffrey coffee in the room was very drinkable - we did buy our own creamer. We had breakfast in our room almost every day. Having a washer and dryer in the room is wonderful! Had to have maintenance come in and replace light bulb/fixture in "hallway" between bedroom and bathroom. It would come on for a minute or two and then shut off.
Never used pools/hot tub. It was a pretty chilly week. Loved the grounds. Took a ton of animal pics, talked with a lot of the international Cast Members at the various overlooks. Really interesting to talk with them. Glad I stopped by Kidani to see the baby giraffes and zebras.
Front desk was very accommodating regarding our extended stay and gave us a really great rate. Were moved to a "standard room", but once again had a savanna view. Had to quickly switch rooms the second night as a pipe broke in the bath/shower plumbing and flooded the carpet in our room, the hall outside and the room next door. Oops!
I'm sure I have more to share, but that's the highlights. I'll try to post a few pics when I get the time. If you have any questions, let me know.
Becky
