Oh my! I hope everyone is being lighthearted about their comments. I did look into the Mara, and knew the name, but just referred to it as a food court, cause that is what I consider the fast food eateries at the resorts. Guess I need to learn some deluxe terminology, so I don't break the etiquette laws. LOL

I think people just didn't want you to be disappointed. Generally the food courts in the values and Deluxes are much more extensive (many more choices) than the counter services in the Deluxes. There is a difference. But I can say we thought the food quality at the Mara was excellent for a CS. I would probably give it a tie between the Mara and Contempo Cafe (contemporary) for best CS in all the Deluxes.

Thanks a bunch. I am sure that is what it was. We have stayed at Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge in the past, so I know they are no where near as extensive as the values and mods (which we have also stayed in). I am just super excited to be even considering AKL.

Still not real sure what to do about room location, but maybe I should just leave it to the room assigner gods. Being it will just be DH and I, we won't be disappointed regardless of location.

Finally got everything finalized and booked for my first solo WDW trip today, and managed to snag an awesome deal on a savannah room. My only concern now is if I need to haul my laptop along or if I'll be able to upload things via cloud to deal with all the pictures and video I plan to shoot.

I'm set for October; is there any way to get an idea of what savannah you'll get prior to check-in?

Sunrise safari is offered to guests staying at club level only, but it's also an additional cost for those staying club level. It's a before park opening tour of the animals at animal kingdom park, with a breakfast following. I've never been since this is our first stay at AKL but since we are staying club level we will be going in November : )

wow. soooo glad my trip is next month and we sprang for CL. Mine is already booked( as is the other Safari with dinner at Jiko)

Yes I read that a few days ago and was so happy we are staying November 9- 19 so we can have that experience, and especially now that it's going bye bye at the end of this year. I had considered canceling it since will be in WDW from Nov. 9-23 and I totally overbook special events to the point I'm wondering why I even booked club level yikes! Staying November 19-23 at RPCL at the Floridian so hopefully I can dial it back a bit for our last 4 nights.
I feel like a major over booker traveler LOL ... and now crazy me is trying to add 3 nights to the front of the trip to get more F&W time at Epcot! My husbands been shaking his head at me like enough is enough but he's so nice he says whatever you want to do ... No wonder we've been married almost 35 years he's incredible and I'm incredibly lucky : )

Being close to the lobby will suit your needs. Though, IMO, you really will be happy anywhere.

Anyone ever use go pros in the parks? I just purchased 1 for our trip. Figure I can use it on splash mountain and at the AKL pool and slide?

Also Measured my 4 year old son this morning in at 47 inches. Looks like someone is now tall enough for 90% of the rides!! Made my day
