First stay at AKL Club level first week in September Not sure whether to purchase the unlimited refill mugs - is there a drink dispenser at the pool area ? Or is there only one at the food court area ? Thanks

Doesn't make much sense to buy the mugs if you stay CL. The drinks are free right there in the cooler. You can't fill the mugs anywhere else other than Mara. I don't see why one would go down there to fill a mug when you can go to the lounge and get a drink for free. You'd have to get a lot of drinks at the pool to make that worth the money. You can even bring a drink from the lounge to the pool.

The YC manager got back to me about my scent question. The scent is called Green Clover & Aloe. I think it is also used at Beach Club. The company who Disney buys their scent systems from is called Scentair - www.scentair.com. It's cool to look through the scents on their website, you can make good guesses of which ones are going to disney parks for sure! The company was founded by a former Disney CM! Smart cookie! Only companies can buy from scentair though. I called the company when I was investigating, and they confirmed that they are the ones who supply the scents into the rides also like Soarin, etc..

The company Enviroscent is a subsidiary of Scentair, and sells cheaper/smaller scent systems to the general public.

I received my package yesterday and am SO EXCITED to have green clover and aloe in my house --- it brings me right back to that YC lobby!

We never get to stay on property but we have enough points from our credit card to stay ONE night at AKL - we are asking for a Savannah view room with a queen and bunk beds - because we are using points - there was not an offer for club level. Do you think it is possible to contact the resort directly and possibly pay for an upgrade to club? That would just me AMAZING!!

No refill at the pool, but the Mara is only a few feet from the pool. They are in the same location so it is still very convenient.

Just an fyi. You can also go to the pool bars for refills. They'll put it into a paper cup, which then you can pour it into your mug. They will not take your mug...This at both pools too.

I'm very excited! I'm visiting AKL for the first time. Unfortunately, it's only for this weekend, arriving Friday evening, leaving Sunday evening. I'm staying with my adult DD in a savannah view room. I didn't have any time off this summer, so I decided rather impulsively to at least do a weekend getaway.

We have ressies at Jiko Saturday night, and Boma on Sunday afternoon, definitely wanted to check out the restaurants. If you see an older lady in a sundress wandering around with a camera and tripod, say hi!

Hi, I am staying at the AKL- Jambo House in a studio and wanted to bring my own coffee. Does anyone know what type of coffee maker is in the studio?

Just returned from a wonderful 7 night stay July 1 -8 at AKL. I had booked a Standard room and did online check in requesting to be in Kudu trail and upper floor as my two preferences from the list provided online. This is the room & view I was provided with:

















I was more than pleased with the room & view despite finding out the shower was broken the 1st time I went to use it. One phone call and someone came promptly to fix it and it was fine for the rest of my stay! I was located on Kudu trail with a Sunset Savannah view on the 4th floor! It was amazing. I had more animals than I could count the 1st moment I looked out my window. I often had giraffes outside my room at night and always zebras in the mornings.

It took me about 3 minutes to get to my room from the lobby depending on how long I had to wait for the elevator and I was glad I had taken a picture of my door with room number because a couple of times I thought I had gotten to my room and tried to get in only to discover I hadn't walked far enough down the hall yet and was at the wrong room! It was about 5 minutes to get to the buses and all buses arrived within 5 minutes which was great. I found the location of my room to be very quiet which was awesome as I am a light sleeper. I was on the 4th floor and I was glad not to be on the 3rd floor because everyone walks by your room and it can be quite noisy! It took me a little while to figure out where Mara was. I don't like asking so wondered around and around and finally clued in that you had to head out towards the pool to get to it!

Next time I visit I'll be making sure to include one full day just to explore the resort! It was so beautiful and peaceful and I could easily sit out on the balcony just watching the animals. It was an amazing stay at AKL!

Wow what a beautiful room you certainly had and the animals are beautiful. I keep reading it's a good idea to take a day to explore the resort in reading so many reviews so on our MVMCP day will be doing just that and hopefully enjoying the pool ect. before heading the the party that night.
How did you like the restaurants? Any favorites for you at AKL?

I don't see why not... ....also, I'm not understanding why paying with points is not an option for CL...we both have Disney Visas and plan on using our points also to pay for most of the bill....

This is a big splurge for us but we are only staying one night so the overall cost is not that bad - we were trying to use Citibank points but the rooms were not available on that date - decided to use out points to stay at Bonnet Creek for the remainder of our trip. Actually pretty excited to stay at Bonnet Creek too! Thanks so much for all the info on this post - thanks to the Disboards I made reservations at Sanaa and plan to spend all day at the resort enjoying the wonderful decor and scenery!
