AKL LITE unofficial FAQ thread#10 - I believe that's known as a 'Jambo Dozen'

I just extended my trip by a day this morning. I have no willpower haha!
YAY AKL! :goodvibes
I extended our trip by 1 day last week! We leave on the afternoon of 8/6 instead of the evening of 8/5. I'd go longer but DGD starts school on 8/7 so I can't. Pushed it as far as I can as it is. And we can't go any earlier because of work. I pay the folks and the day we leave is the day I process the pay. Can't push it back any as the pay period ends the day before as it is. Best I could do is push our flight up so that we arrive in the afternoon instead of the evening. So we have 8 nights with half days at the beginning and end.

Exciting! This is a short trip. Started out with 1 night at a family member's house and has evolved into 3 nights at AKL with a ticket to Harambe Nights. The only thing I *might* do is upgrade to a better view when I get there. Still deciding on that one, I figure I will wait and if it's unavailable or insanely priced that's a sign to be happy just being there! I'm very excited. I have always wanted to stay here!

Thanks for the list! I've heard about the Zebra Domes - It's definitely something I want to try. Along with the cocktails on my balcony. ;)

Where do they do the movies?

They didn't have movies when we were there but I think I read on here it's by the pool.

Anybody else help us out here?

woops see that sombody has already answered behind the pool

Loving this thread:cloud9: Taking notes and getting lots of tips from this one..thanks everyone!

We've been living in Australia for the past 3 years and are back in the US now and planning our first trip to the world since 2009......and though we took many awesome trips during our time in Australia I am really looking forward to going back to Disney and checking out Universal ( DD is a huge HP fan!!)

We'll be doing a split stay between Universal and Disney and we're very excited!!!

June 7th - 10th at Hard Rock then June 10 - 15th at AKL. This will be our first stay at AKL...can't wait.

We will start our disney portion with a nice relaxing dinner at Jiko then end it with Harambe Nights at AK on that Saturday :)

Even though it has been 5 years since we've been , we have plans all set for each park of must do's and we are really hoping to take it slow and just enjoy the resort ...can't wait :cloud9:

....well, disneyglobegirl, :welcome:....you are going to have a great time! :thumbsup2

Lucky ducky!

Am leaning towards booking with free dining now and switching to Jambo savanah room at akl instead of renting points. Anyone have any experience with 3 kids in one of these rooms??

We have all our days planned and plan to not be in the room much so started thinking that a villa was more money and we wouldn't use it more??

What does everyone think??

Am considering bunk bed room for my older kids. Is that worth it??

Earlier this year we did a split stay at CR and thinking of doing the same next time. Did a search and AKL looks intriguing. Just have a few questions.

I did a search of random dates this year with 6 people it came up animal kingdom lodge club level 1 bedroom savannah view 854, kidani 2 bedroom villa 664 (non savannah only 60 cheaper so I'd rather just pay it), and Jambo house only sleeping up to 5. If I'd choose just plain animal kingdom does that put me in Jambo? I tried searching for resort maps but doesn't seem to make a distinction.

I seem to understand kidani is off the regular animal kingdom building with its own pool and bus stops, correct? Is it inconvenient to stay there? Pros/cons?

I know the main lodge offers club level for the amount of people I have, is that worth $200? Is it better to stay there than it is in kidani? Not sure how much we'd use it other than afew alcoholic drinks at night(what do they offer?).

It's about the same price for two savannah rooms so id rather have the bigger one. However what about two pool or standard view rooms which would save more than 200 per night ?

Sorry for all the questions just been searching and can't find much without reading thousands of page. I know everyone has there own value on things, but like hearing others opinions.

....oddly enough, we've never had all 3 of our DS with us when we've stayed at AKL...:confused3 we HAVE stayed in a room with bunks though....

....if you aren't going to take full advantage of the amenities and food offerings that CL has to offer, then why even spend the extra $$ on a DVC room? If you look at the room as 'just a place to rest your head each night', then I'd opt for the best/view room without breaking the bank...I've stayed in a savanna-view room and a pool-view room - they are both nice, but you must decide which you'd prefer. As far as both buildings are concerned, I don't think either one is 'better or worse' - Jambo is more resort-like and expansive, while Kidani evokes a more 'imtimate' feeling...

I'm confused about the room occupancy numbers you have.

I'm looking at the DVC member website. It says this:

Sleeps 5
1 king-size bed, 1 queen-size sleeper sofa, & 1 sleeper chair
Full kitchen
Washer/dryer
1 master bathroom with whirlpool tub

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village 2 Bedroom Lock-Off Villa - Savanna View
Sleeps 9
1 king-size bed, 1 queen-size bed, 1 queen-size sleeper sofa, 1 full-size sleeper sofa & 1 sleeper chair
Full kitchen
Washer/dryer
3 full bathrooms, including master with whirlpool tub

I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what you're asking.

When I search on the DisneyWorld website and click on Animal Kingdom Lodge, it says club level 1 bedroom sleeps up to six (2 queens and a queen sleeper sofa).

When I click on Animal Kingdom Kidani Villas, it says 2 bedroom villa (with the breakdown you have).

When I click on Animal Kingdom Jambo Villas it doesn't offer a 2 bedroom villa, saying I'm over occupancy that the 1 bedrooms only sleep 5 like you mention above.

Okay. You are looking at a 1 bedroom club level SUITE in Jambo House. I thought you were looking at a 1 bedroom club level DVC VILLA in Jambo House. Big difference. My mistake.

There are two-bedroom DVC villas in Jambo House. Maybe they aren't available through disneyworld.com, or aren't available for the dates you were searching. There's one block of inventory if you are booking a DVC villa through disneyworld.com (or calling Central Reservations Office) and a different block of inventory if you are booking through the DVC member website or calling the DVC member phone number.
