Hi.. I have a trip booked for the end of May. (2 adults, 2 teens & 4yr old)

AKL Kidani, 2 bedroom, Savanna View, (not a lock off)

I am trying to figure out the room request thing.

I read there are 140 rooms that are what I have booked. Is there a map some where that shows where these 140 rooms are located?

Right now I'm thinking of requesting:
  • Sunset Savanna
  • Lower level floor
  • and maybe near Timon elevator
Honestly I'm lost! LOL Or maybe overwhelmed would be a better word!
Thanks!

Other than Grand Villas, all rooms types are available in all parts of the resort so just go with what you listed in your post and hope for the best.

I haven't seen a room location map of Kidani. It is a large resort with very long hallways so be prepared that no matter what you request, you could end up at the far end of one of those long hallways. We don't mind because it's often much quieter the further you are from the lobby. I'll take a long walk to my room if it means few or no people running past my door at odd hours.

I hope you have a wonderful stay.

Thanks for the reply!

We have stayed there 2 times before. Both times were at the Jamba side. I really don't remember the walk being too bad. I just remember that both times our savanna view wasn't great. Once was tree tops and once was a people pen thing. Just hoping if I request I can get a better view!

Thanks again!

There are no people pens at Kidani and if you get a low floor, you won't have the tree tops blocking part of the view. One of the main reasons we prefer Kidani over Jambo House is that you have the possibility, though not a guarantee, of getting a room on a low floor. All of the DVC rooms in Jambo are on the 5th and 6th floors, where the tree tops may block part of the view and as you mentioned, unless your room faces the Arusha savanna, you could be looking at a people pen.

The only risk with Kidani is if you are assigned a room facing the much smaller Pembe savanna. While it has some unique animals (okapi, red river hogs), it does not have giraffes or zebras. We always make "Sunset Savanna" our first request, low floor our second request. I would take a room on a high floor facing Sunset over a room on a low floor facing Pembe.

We stayed there a couple of years ago in room 7214, a studio. The location was perfect! Your request should get you in that general area.

It was close to the lobby but not noisy (which surprised me). Here's a pic from our balcony.

The three requests you list are fine for a dedicated 2BR savanna view at Kidani. If you get it you will be not far from lobby, fairly close to the the door that goes directly to the bus station, and will have good views of animals. If you have done the "long" walks at Jambo before to your room because you had a room close to end of a wing, be aware that the distance at Kidani is double that from lobby to end rooms.

It is about a tenth of a mile further at Kidani Village than the hallways are at Jambo House. It is definitely something to consider when taking kids back to the room from the bus as whether you should stop at the restroom in lobby first. But after all the walking you do at the parks it is nothing.
