Where was your room? Did you see lots of animals? We were there last week and stayed in room 3512 - I liked being on the 3rd floor because you were closer to the animals. We saw so many -- I couldn't keep count but my DD and DH kept a list. The animals came so close to the building -- especially after dusk. They came around and fed the animals around 6:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Boy, those animals knew when it was feeding time because they all came out
Did you eat at Bomas. ( we have a ps) - We didn't eat there, but every night when we walked by the place was PACKED so it must have been good.
Is the pool as big as the pictures make it look? Yes, the pool is quite large. It does have a green-ish bottom so it doesn't appear to be crystal clear water -- but it is and it was warm. There is a slide and the kids seemed to enjoy that most of all.
Was the pool bar nice? We didn't use it, but did see quite a few people around it.
Were the buses crowded? Uggh! This is where Disney can improve (in my opinion). Bus service from the AKL is not the best and if I knew then what I know now, I would rent a car instead of using their transporation. The bus frequency to and from the parks is slow. Getting to the AKL is fast because it is the closest. The bus to MGM was the worst! It also stops at Blizzard Beach so the ride is 20 to 30 mintues each way once the bus shows up. The bus from MGM to AKL took 45 minutes to arrive -- and when you are standing in the hot sun, its not fun. This is also the most crowded bus we had (probably because of Blizzard Beach). The bus to Epcot was not as crowded.
The hotel is nice and clean. The CM's are not as friendly at the AKL as they are elsewhere. We stayed at the YC the second half of our trip and the CM's there were very friendly.
I'm glad we stayed at the AKL for the sake of my DH and youngest DD, but I doubt I would stay there again.
