Hi everyone,

Well we've narrowed the dates to May 10 through May 19 of next year. Got quoted $315 for savannah view. I need two rooms. Did anyone get discounts for this time period this year. I'm hoping to get some sort of discount, since I need two rooms.

Also, any recommendations on best rooms.

Thanks to this board I saved a fortune on last year's trip. Hoping to do the same this time

There were a few different discounts for May 2002. I don't remember what they were, sorry. I used a discount I received thru a Disney e-mail. It's the same as a postcard discount. Has a pin # only the party that receives it can use it. I got a Savannah View at AKL for $189. That was the lowest discount I saw.

I don't know what triggered the e-mail. I signed up for e-mail updates when I ordered the WDW Video on Disney site last year. I also have the Disney Club Card. They have my e-mail address.

We were at AKL Apr 25 - May 2. We had savannah view for $205/night. It was a code from a postcard, but mousesavers had the same deal/price. We were in rooms 2551 and 2553. We had a queen and bunkbeds in 1 room, 2 queens in the other. We had a nice view from our room. While the people pen was right there, we saw MANY animals. Hardly noticed the pen because of everything else to watch. Had a few of the big horned guys who liked to sleep right in front of our room. We were on the zebra trail, which was conveinent to the pool and Mara for refills. It was down one of the side hallways, which I feel minimized the amount of people going by and therefore was very quite. Enjoy!:)

Hi sharon,

thanks for the input.

what did you mean by people pen?

In a different post, a poster was upset with his view of the "people pen". What it is is a fenced in area that is used should the hotel have to be evacuated for an emergency. Rather than have the guests exit out onto the savannah with the wild animals, they exit into these areas. A truck would then back up to it for everyone to get on and be removed from the area.
The fence is sort of "bambo like".
We were on the second floor and were able to see over it NO problem. I don't believe there are any guest rooms on the first floor (at least not savannah view.) It was truly a nonissue from our room, off to the left side of the view. The animals can't get too close to it, so we had NO problems seeing everything and everybody.
