AKL--I could hear the upstairs guests' bathroom activities!!! UGH!! (m)

hmm, sounds like the problem starts around the 3rd or 4th floor up and concierge...I'm wondering if they had run out of money towards the end of building AK, so they finished the AK in a hurry and skimped on the sound proofing...yikes  LOL

Just got back from AKL and heard the same "noises" from our second floor room on Zebra trail. I agree with a previous poster...it sounded like it was right over our heads when we were in bed! I had stayed there before on Kudu trail and never heard a peep. Maybe it's a "Zebra trail" thing!

This must be where the water lines are located in reference to your room. We stay at the Poly all the time and we have never had the turbo flush problem but when we stayed at the DXL (I can't remember what the new name) is it was awful. I have never heard others complain about it. We stayed at the CBR and it was not a problem there either. It must be how the pipes run.

I just heard from the AKL in this regard. It seems that there has been an ongoing convention over the past six months. Sections of this particular group come in for a week at a time from different regions of the Country.

What makes this relevent is that the group is the 'NPA' or 'Night Pee'ers Annonymous'. This is a rather large group of individuals that can't seem to sleep through the night without getting the urge. The AKL has reported overbookings were sent to the Poly so thats probably where that report came from.

It's a rather unknown group (who would want to admit to belonging?) and the AKL is trying to shift future conventioneers elsewhere as they fear the noise may be harmful to the animals. The Poly has drafted a 'no NPA' policy but is hesitent to enforce it because they don't have any animals who might be bothered and are concerned about a discrimination suit.

Further, I hear ABC is considering a new Soap called 'As The PeePee Flows', starring the infamous actor I.P. Freely, hoping that a bathroom oriented drama could be a real sleeper...Or perhaps a sleep inhibitor, as the original poster has mentioned...

  :bounce:

We've just booked 2 nights, Savannah view room at AKL during our hols over from the UK in October.

Does anyone know where I can peek at a map to see where these problems room seem to be - so I can try and NOT get one:rolleyes:

Thanks

We were 2nd floor Kudu trail and never heard a sound. Which was surprising since the first time I flushed the turbo it scared the **** out if me and my DDs! My DF who was an engineer was impressed by the turbos, lol!

:D This is soo funny!!

Knowing how "proper" my mother is... she would be appauled!!! My mom & dad want to stay there next time, so I'll refer them to that room#!! LOL!!!!
Thanks guys!! (

Sorry you had a bad time! But think of all of the smiles its bringing to your fellow DIS-ers!):p

We stayed here this past August on the fourth floor. I heard NOTHING at all. It was the quietest room I have ever stayed in. I wonder if it is only certain rooms.

I heard these noises too. But I never mentioned it to anybody. We were on the 3rd floor, facing the Arusha Rock but in the middle of the horseshoe. Wow I can't believe others heard this, I thought I was losing it.

I also heard the noise above the queen bed, and it was around ll:00p.m. and early in the a.m. , we had a bunkbed room.

Although this would not deter me from staying at this lovely resort. We had a great time here and really enjoyed the resort .

I wonder if the rooms on 4th floor have the bathrooms above the bed area.

Deb.

I stayed there in June, I was on the 5th floor Kudo Trail and I didn't hear a sound. I wonder if anyone heard me, ARGH!!!!!

:)

I believe in future visits to the AKL, we should run the taps in the bathroom to cover the "tinkle noise" from our rooms. LOL.

That way no one will ever hear any of us members of the DIS using our bathrooms at the AKL. LOL

Like I posted before...this thread made me "phobic" about my upcoming trip to AKL...and the "bathroom" issue. I can NOT see myself or DH using the bathroom without being conscientious!:o I will DEFINITELY run the taps...maybe even the shower, when I use the facility! ROTFL...and Crying too! This is the wildest thing I've read about AKL...EVER! :bounce:

I stayed there in August, second floor, zebra trail facing Arusha savannah and never heard a sound.

It must just be certain rooms or areas.

Thanks for the laugh Peter Pirate.... I needed that today... Mr. I.P Freely.. wonder if he lives in whooville. I think I would be disturbed by the sounds eminating from the floor above also. I must say that the turbo flush could probably be heard at Universal.

Reading the posts here is making me wonder if I really want to stay at the AKL now. The last thing I want to hear on my honeymoon is the tinkle and whatever else comes with that over my bed. That could ruin the romance.

Yikes! We arrive at the AKL tomorrow! And I am 10 weeks pregnant and making bathroom visits every half hour to an hour. I apologize in advance to the person rooming below us. :(
