AKL: Disney website or Expedia?

I'm planning a week-long AKL stay in a few months. I noticed the Expedia room rate is $320/night for a regular Savannah room while the WDW website was about $385. We're booking 2 rooms and travelling with another family, so that comes out to about $130/day more - enough to cover a lot of other expenses.

Is there any advantage to booking through the WDW website? What do you get for $65/night more? Conveniences? Priorities?

I would call Disney directly and make the reservation or go through a TA like Deams Unlimited, who specialize in Disney - that way if any room discounts become available for your stay the TA (if you use a Disney Specialist) will check often enough that the rate could be changed. Not even a chance of that if you book through Expedia. Of course, no guarantees, but I'd prefer to take the chance. If you are staying long enough and there are enough of you (you are getting two rooms?) it would be cost saving for one person to buy an annual pass - then you would be able to apply the ap rate (if available) to your room or reserve a room at the ap rate. Depending on the time of a year it can be a substanial savings. You can book up to 3 rooms with an ap rate.

A p.s. a few people have had reported problems with expedia and travelocity check-ins on this board.

We booked through Expedia in 2002 and didn't have any problems with our ressies. However, I was nervous about it until we were checked in! But hey, we even got an upgrade!

Are you a member of AAA? Maybe you could get an AAA discount? The BDP code goes through April 16, but I don't know if it is still being accepted now that the ticket system has changed.

That's great to read!

The problems I read have been more recent - don't think I'd take a chance now, esp when it is not saving as huge amount.
