AKL Concierge: Simply Great!

Just back from three nights at AKL Con and boy are they great! I was unable to partake in either safari due to capacity but the convienience of the lounge, friendliness of the staff and ambiance of the location was pure heaven.

The food offerings, while not bountiful were very good as was the wine and beer selections.

We were travelling with my father who has alzheimers, and the experience was far better than we hoped for thanks to (1) his interest in the animals, and they were present all the time and (2) the comfortable environment of AKL Concierge as a getaway with some activity (enough to stimulate) but not too much hubub.

AKL is the best and I'd wager that no Concierge experience at Disney compares either (although I'veonly been at AKL, Poly, Swan & Dolphin).

I agree with you ~ AKL concierge is wonderful.. we have done a 10 night stay and a 4 night stay and we are heading back again in 2005.

Were you one the 6th floor or 5th floor? and what was your view?

We we were on the 5th floor (rooms 5311 &5313), about halfway out Kudu, overlooking the Arusha.

Interesting to note, that while we always had animals in our view (we were very happy), the view on the other side of Kudu, facing Sunset savannah (and some of the infamous 'people pens') there was just a tremendous amount of animal activity, proving (IMO) once again that the animals can be found anywhere AND the sometimes overlooked 'lesser view' rooms might actually provide a better animal experience...

I can't wait to start planning a return.

Were the food offerings enough to make up a light evening meal. At home, if we have a large lunch, we would typically eat a light dinner, say soup and a sandwhich. Would the evening offerings be similar? I am still trying to figure out the "best" way for us to go to Disney?

Sure it would. It'll be no four course meal, but finger food like hazelnut crusted tuna or spicy chicken wings certainly work for me.

AKL Conciege is great. My son loves the coffee/expresso machine in the lounge.

Did you get to do Sunrise Safari. Sunrise Safari is one of the best tours at WDW and is limited to AKL conciege guests.
