I am planning and adults only trip with my sister next year. It is her first visit to WDW and I would like it to be special. I have suggested AKL concierge to her, but a couple of posts recently have me worried. Do a lot of parents use this lounge as a "baby sitting" service for their pre-teens? Having the lounge filled with kids with no supervision would not be pleasant for us. I know none of your kids would act up, of course mine wouldn't have either ;) , but my sister has never had children and has little patience for kids running wild.

We were there in August, children were always well behaved when we were there. They have a T.V. in the lounge with Disney movies playing, so all the kids gathered around it. When we were there it seemed the most crowded at breadfast time. Went up a few times during the afternoon and we were the only ones there. There is an area in the lounge away from the main area. Don't worry, you'll have a good time.

I'm ready to go back. Have a wonderful time.

We were there in June and did not see that. The staff is always right there in the lounge so I don't think they would let anything get too out of hand. (It's an AWESOME loounge!!!)

We were also at the BWI that trip and that lounge seemed more "adult" to me. My kids were only 4 & 8 then so we just went in, got stuff and left. I KNEW they would get out of hand if we stayed there - not enough room for them to be separated. At the AKL one sat near the tv and the other sat waaaaaaay over in a comfy chair to play his gameboy. :)

There is no way of knowing if there will be children running wild during your stay. You may see misbehaving children. You may not.

I have a pre-teen and allowed him to go to the AKL concierge lounge on his own. It certainally wasn't for "free babysitting" since he is too old for a babysitter. He went to get a drink and watch tv with other kids his age.

Have to agree, no way of knowing at any lounge. We were in the lounge and this poor little guy was crying rather loudly, he wanted this carton of milk. Finally his Mom who was sitting right there and not letting him have the milk, got up and went to get his sippy cup, I guess that was the problem because he was a happy camper after that. So, most of the time it's the parents not the kids.

We've only noticed problems at breakfast. It's not a case of 'free' babysitting - as the parents are right there. One day we were afraid to put our plates on the coffee tables as small children were running over them and jumping off of them. A CM asked them not to several times, but the kids kept right on doing so. The parents couldn't have cared less.

Will we stay there again? YES!! We'll just hope for at better 'luck of the draw'.
