I remember there was a walk between the bus and getting on the ride, but I don't recall how far or if it was a paved area or there was a restroom stop at that time. Has anyone gone recently or is anyone going soon who could tell me? Thinking about booking for my parents, but my dad has difficulty walking without taking time to rest every few minutes (and will not use a wheelchair).

You might want to email AKL IPO with your questions and concerns. I had a bunch of questions that I could not find the answers to anywhere, and the CM that responded to my email was extremely knowledgable and was able to answer every question I had. They might also be able to provide you with a map that points out the route with the bathrooms marked.

Ours was back in Oct 2005 but I dont remember it being that far of a walk.

It is not that long of a walk and it is paved. There is no restroom. I would recommend going to the restroom at the lodge just before you board the bus to the AK. The ride over the AK is not that long, maybe 5mins. Then onto the ride vehicles. We have done the Sunrise Safari twice and are scheduled for our third time on our upcoming Sept. trip.
