We booked our son's family a 1 night stay for a 2BR resort view Kidani room. On check-in day (Apr 12th) DS sent me a text saying he received a voice mail from AKL saying they had lost their room due to maintenance (he was given a phone number to call)! With 7 folks on the reservation checking in later on in the day, I was in panic mode! (Honestly, I was a little embarassed, too, because you don't want to have glitches like that). They had been looking forward to staying at the AKL and had dining reservations at Boma and so on.

Anyway, they were offered a 2BR resort room with club access at Jambo House or a CCV cabin. I explained the options relying on things I've read here on the Dis Board over the years. Realistically both options were probably something I would never be able to book using our points, so I was real curious about how it would all turn out. (More than anything I wanted them to have an enjoyable experience before they left for their cruise :) ).

So, it all turned out okay.
They took the 2 BR resort room with club access at Jambo House. They really enjoyed the club access. They were close to the swimming pool and they could see animals from their room so they thought that was pretty darn cool.

Glad that worked out for you. I'm sure things happen with the rooms, but at least they could get you a slight upgrade with the Club access. We love the times we can get access to the Club Lounge at AKL! Then again, the cabins are pretty nice, too!! But they don't have animals!

I'd have taken Jambo Club Lounge if for no other reason than I likely had planned the trip around the AKV area... but both are amazing offers. Glad it worked out!

Glad DVC gave you reasonable alternatives.

If you can use the club access (depends what your schedule is), that is great with kids. Then again, if your kids are outdoorsy, a Cabin is very nice as well.

Oh wonderful! So nice to have these two uograded options! Would have been hard for me to choose between the two…. Cabins? Club? Disney customer service is so nice!

With a party of 7, that cabin sure would be tempting to take! But then again, 7 people in Club level - the $$ I could see us saving!

As BR and AKL owners we love both resorts. If I ever unluckily lucked out with these options I'd go with Jambo Club level. Beautiful resort, nice pool and CL benefits. Hope they had a great time!
