Akershus reservation for 4, but only 3 come

I have a reservation for 4 next week at Akershus but my ds 14 has told me that he would rather not go to a princess dinner and wants to eat with some other family members that will be in WDW with us for dinner that night instead. There are no reservations for 3 available on the website. Do you think they will charge me 4 TS credits if only 3 of us show up? I don't want to cancel it altogether because my dd5 would be so disappointed! Any thoughts? I just worry because they have you give a credit card # to make the reservation and I don't want to be charged cancellation fees... or too many TS credits.

it will be fine, we traveled with another family last year and for one of the meals the little girl in the other party became ill and the family went back to the hotel, We went to Ohana any how and explained what happened they had no problem putting us at a smaller table. The said its when more come that they can't deal with normally

I'd call. Doesn't Akershus require a credit card to reserve (unlike Ohana)?

Yes, you will want to call and change your reservation to a party of 3. Akershus is a credit card guarantee reservation so they will charge you (I believe) for any no-shows. Better to be safe then sorry and just call 407-WDW-DINE.

They won't charge you the TS credit but will charge your credit card for 1 no show. I forget if Akershus is $10 or $20 for a no show.

I believe it is $10 per person charge for a no show.

If my understanding is correct, they can't just change my reservation to 3 instead of 4. They have to cancel our reservation for 4, then try to book one for 3. Just because you cancel one for 4 doesn't mean that a reservation for 3 will be available afterwards. There are NO reservations for 3 at the time we need right now. Any suggestions? Am I correct in the way the reservation change works?

No, they will be able to keep your existing reservation but just change it from a party of 4 to a party of 3. All you have to do is call Disney dining and have them change your existing reservation from a party of 4 to a party of 3. You will keep the same confirmation number. This will be no problem!!

A lot of CMS don't know how or can't keep the existing reservation and change it to 3 persons. If they say they can't do this, then ask them to check availability for 3 first, then book that and cancel the original reservation AFTER you have booked the new one.

I had to do the same thing at Akershus. CM changed from 7 to 6 with no problem. If the CM says they can't do it, call back and get someone else.
