Does anyone remember back before Akershus was a character meal? When it was a buffet and you had to eat "seven plates to be a Viking?" the server would tell you. In those days (I know it was like that until at least 2000), Akershus was one of our favorite restaurants. But we haven't been there since it became a character meal. Now we have 2 little (5 and 6) DGDs with us who are Princess fans. Think they'd enjoy it? All I can think of is "seven plates to be a Viking".

I loved the old Akershus, I went there for dinner with my DH before we had kids. My grandparents were from Norway so I loved the big buffet full of Scandinavian items. We went back with my DD when she was obsessed with the princesses and she loved it. I even made her go back as a teen because there are still some of the old foods left on the buffet plus I could order something like swedish meatballs for my entree.

My little one eats everything, but this was the one meal he wasn't in love with. The interaction with the Princess was wonderful, so that was nice vs waiting in lines. I think the time with each character would be why I would try it.

Yes! I loved the old buffet. So many really yummy items and we always had great conversations with the CMs about Norway.

I loooooved old Akershus on my first visit in 2001. I remember being obsessed with this cold shrimp salad on the buffet. I miss it!

Akershus was always my favorite restaurant before it turned princess. The food was always so good and I loved the atmosphere! I hate what Disney did to it (I'd add Cinderella castle restaurant to this, too.) By making ALL meals of the day princess, it kind of forces those of us without kids out. (I know, I know, we could still go... But I don't WANT to dine with princesses and the accompanying noise!) It would've been nice if they'd kept at least one meal non-character. Sigh.
