If you could only choose one, would you choose dinner at Akershus or Biergarten? Why? Thanks for your input! :)

Who would be in the dining party? Any kids? And what meal would you be booking for?

Those are two very different places...and a lot of the answer depends, I think, of what you are looking for.

Akershus: Buffet-style cold board (appetizer) with plated entrees and family-style dessert. The food was okay, with the cold board being my family's favorite and the dessert being our least favorite. There are characters at dinner (princesses) and dining room activities for kids (e.g., princess parade).

Biergarten: All buffet style foods. The food was good and my family liked most things we tried. There is the Biergarten band which performs and kids are invited to the dance floor area to dance along with the music. There are no characters and seating is often communal style (so more than one family/group per table).

For my family (no children), we would pick Biergarten. However, if I went with my friend's family, who has a princess-loving kiddo, I would not hesitate to recommend Akershus over Biergarten.

We did the Princess breakfast at Akershus in 2012 when my daughter was 5. The breakfast food was fine and we all enjoyed the meal. What made it special is that my daughter's favorite is Snow White; when Snow White came to our table and saw my daughter wearing her Snow White dress, she kissed the back of my daughter's hand and left a big red lipstick print on it...haha...my daughter thought it was so cool that she refused to wash her hand the rest of the day.

Akershus to me is one of the lower buffets IMHO...Character interaction was ok, but the food quality/choices was just poor.

If you're a meat eater and don't mind sitting amongst strangers, Biergarten ( I thought )was great. Loud, energetic, entertaining, and just overall great festive time...

We've done the Akershus twice and that was enough for us. Biergarten is a staple each and every trip we take. Our kids love the polka band, the dancing, and the huge array of choices on their buffet. While the princesses were a draw for us in Norway, I found the interaction just OK and I felt like we were a little rushed between stopping for photos and autographs and then trying to eat.

Beirgarten for selection of food. Akershus for the princesses. The cold buffet at Arershus is very goog but the over all food at Beirgarten is better. Done each many times.

We were not impressed with Akershus although DD loved the princesses. If you are getting them at another meal, then go for Biergarten. We loved the food, the beer, and the dancing. Food at Akershus was the poorest quality of all of our meals.

I have two boys, 2 and 4. We did CRT last year, and even though they're boys, they loved the princesses.

I guess we are looking for best value on the dining plan = best food/experience combined.

My youngest is 17 (boy) and we did CRT last year. He got a huge kick out of getting his picture with each of the princesses and the princesses played it up with him (fighting over him and such)! As much as we love Biergarten, it was a choice between that and going to Norway for the princesses. I'm sure you can guess what my 17 year old chose. Yep, we are going to Akershus! I hope the food isn't as bad as people here are saying.

This. I tried Akershus once and that was more than enough. Only okay princess interaction and the food wasn't good. Biergarten had good food and we enjoyed the entertainment.

BierGarten for us. Food is good, band is cool, atmosphere is tops. Some folks get spooked when they hear communal table. Dont! I have met some really nice folks along the way by sharing a table.

My husband and I loved Akershus when we went for our anniversary last year. Snow White and Ariel were a lot of fun, plus the appetizer buffet was really yummy. We still talk about the smoked fish, etc. The atmosphere is beautiful, as well. This December we are planning two days at Epcot and are going to Akershus one day and Biergarten the next! Can't wait to go back to a magical favorite plus try somewhere new and fun!

Biergarten for us as well. Even having 2 girls who love princesses, they picked biergaten over Akershus. For our princess meal we go to 1900 pf or CRT.

I actually love dinner at Akershus and prefer it to Biergarten. The mushroom pasta dish is one of my favorites I've ever had at Disney. Biergarten is decent, but not my favorite. But if you like meat and sauerkraut, it is a fun atmosphere.

I wasn't impressed with Akershus (CRT was so much better for us, as far as interactions and food quality). We'll eat there one more time now that we have a daughter, but I'm not looking forward to it.

We like the dinner at Biergarten, and the fact that it's a buffet so everyone can find something they like. The band is so fun to watch, too! It's a little awkward sitting with a different family; you never know who you're going to end up with.
The cold bar at Akershus was decent, and we liked our meals. There is a lot up to chance, though --- my daughter was terrified she wouldn't like her meal. Personally, I much prefer the character interaction at Akershus to that at CRT!
