Hi, everyone! I have a question about the Akershus Breakfast.

We are staying at AKL (doing the expedition everest challenge the night before), and we have a ressie for 9:20 am at Akershus on Sunday, Sept. 27. This was the only breakfast ressie I have been able to find for our entire trip (looking for a month).

This is our departure day. Our flight is at 3:55, so I'm guessing we would need to be back at the hotel and ready for magical express pick up at around 12:40 pm.

I mean, just looking at it, I would have thought that we would have plenty of time for breakfast and then head straight back to AKL (over 3 hours in btwn breakfast ressie time and me pickup time) But, Since character meals can sometimes take a while and who knows how backed up they will be, I'm now starting to worry we will be cutting it close to get all the way back out to AKL from Epcot.

Based on your experiences, how long does the breakfast typically take? Should we be okay on time, or should I cancel the ressie?

Also, we do plan to ride the bus back to AKL as we are not fans of taxis and do not want to take one.

thanks for your help! :)

I can't see it being a problem. We were there last January, and we had a little bit of a wait (maybe 10 minutes), but once inside, there wasn't much of a delay. It's a buffet - so you can linger or move it along. We waited for all the "princesses" to come around at least once, and still were out of there within an hour of our ADR.

Besides, by 11:00 they'll probably be serving lunch, so I can't imagine they'll be still stringing along the morning crowd!

Thanks for your response! I hadn't even thought about the lunch thing (oops..:headache:), very good point. I feel a lot better now!!

You'll be fine. It's not a traditional "buffet", but rather all you care to eat. They bring the hot food on platters to your table right away and then there is a fruit, cheese, meat and bread station that you can visit at your leisure. You will have no problem getting there, enjoying it and making it back to your resort. Enjoy!

Thank you also for your response! It is very reassuring to a worry wart like me!

I have this lovely WDW Dining Ap for my iPhone (How did I live before my iPhone?!?!?!) - and it says that the breakfast hours at Akershus are 8:30 to 10:10 (though that may mean they seat the last people at 10:10). :surfweb:

I am hoping that 10:10 is the last breakfast because that is what we are trying to get for our trip.

I'm hoping that the 9:20 ADR should be early enough so not to wait (that is the time I have too). In January, we had a 10:10 ADR and we didn't get in to get our picture with Belle until 10:45. Not sure why they were running so far behind, but I was HUNGRY!!

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping, too. That is a long wait - yuck! :( We had a pretty long wait when we had a 10:40 ressie at Chef Mickey's on July 4th - I didn't enjoy not having a back on those cushioned seat things. lol ;)

You'll probably be fine, but I would show up to your ADR a little early so you can definitely get in on time. 3 hours should definitely be enough time to eat and get back to AKL. Have a great time!

I think you'll have plenty of time. The meal itself should take under an hour. You just need to add the time you might wait to be seated. If that ends up being 40 minutes (worst-case scenario I'd think) you would be seated by 10:25 and out of there by 11:25.

I'd probably be tempted to grab a set of FP for Test Track on my way to breakfast. :wizard:

You should be fine.

Your 9:40 breakfast should last no more than 2 hours (and maybe less than that..the characters have usually completed their "visits" in about 60-75 minutes). That puts you at 11:40. That give you an hour, minimum, to get out of the park, on a bus, and back to AKL. I think you'll be OK.

We're doing something similar on our departure day. We have an 11:40 AM lunch at Crystal Palace in the MK. We fly out of MCO at 5:40. I'm thinking our pickup time at AKL will be around 2:40. Worst case scenario..we skip dessert.

I have a similar situation to the OP.

On our departure day, my dfiance and I have reservations for 1900 Park Fare @ the Grand Floridian @ 10:10am and our flight home is at 2:50pm. I'm staying at CBR and the CM at the Disney Dining Line said I should have enough time. I figure we'll check in at Park Fare a little earlier in case they can fit us in early. I figure with it just being the two of us, maybe we can make it in early. Otherwise, is our 10:10 time slot doable?

I think you'll have more than enough time. But, a backup plan may be to not wait for a bus back to AKL, but if you're later than you expected (or just for peace of mind) just grab a cab back to your resort.

Are you using magical express? If so, I would say you are cutting it close. If using ME, you would probably need to be back at CBR and at the bus stop at 11:35 (they recommend getting there 15 mins before your assigned 3 hour pre flight time). I don't believe you would get seated, eat, and get back to CBR in less than an hour and a half.

Having a later breakfast time like that, I would not count on getting sat early. It could happen, but a lot of times character meals seem to run late or ressie times the later in time you go. When we went to a 10:40 ressie at CM earlier this summer, we had to wait for over 30 minutes (granted, I don't believe 1900 park fare even if full is as crowded as CM). I'm just saying, I wouldn't count on this possibility - it would be more of a pleasant surprise.

If you are not using ME, you would possibly be okay. As long as you got to the airport 2 hours before your flight.

Either way, I think it would be better to either skip a character breakfast this day or try to get an earlier time, to be on the safe side. :)

If you're using Magical Express you're going to need to catch your bus around 11:30-11:45. If you're seated for breakfast by 10:15 you should be out by 11:15. There's no way to make it to CBR from the GF in only 30 minutes using Disney transportation. You would need to take a taxi, and even then you're going to be cutting it close. If you really want to keep the breakfast then I'd plan on checking in early, and plan on taking a taxi back to your resort.

Bummer...we will be taking Magical Express. I took that 10:10 timeslot b/c it's all they had. Maybe I should cross my fingers and call for earlier timeslots or move it to a different day.

Thanks for the advice!

Def keep trying - esp with online ADRs. You never know when one may pop up.
