Akershus buffet question

I have looked and looked for more specific types of food that is on the buffet part of the meal, but I can't find anything.

Everything always says "meats, cheeses, salads, seafood" etc...

But I want the juicy details!! What kinds of sliced meats? What kinds of salads?

Does anyone have a trip report they can link me to that would give some more details?

Thanks so much!!

I just ate there this past week for dinner. I don't remember everything but can help a bit. The cheeses we had were a jarlsberg and I think a swiss so 2 types. There was salami, roast beef, maybe another type of meat and a fish? Not sure. There was a very good pasta salad and I believe a potato salad. Delicious grilled asparagus with a smokey, balsalmic (I think) glaze. Rolls, salad vegetables, assorted fruits like cantelope, honey dew, pineapple, grapes. I am probably forgetting some things but this is what we all had. Also, there are delicious crusty rolls.

Hope this helps!

THANK YOU!!! That's exactly what I was looking for! I just wanted to make sure that the buffet part was something interesting and not just cup up fruit with American cheese slices. The asparagas sounds wonderful but I won't hold my breath that they'll have it in January, hopefully something just as yummy though. Thanks again, you make my night!!

Personally, I think the food here is awful. But I tolerate it because my daughter wants to meet all the princesses.

We had Jarlsberg and Swiss, there might have been other cheeses.

Two types of smoked salmon, pickled herring, shrimp salad, marinated grilled asparagus, salad greens with assorted dressings, fabulous rolls, peel and eat shrimp with cocktail sauce. We skipped the meats because we don't eat them, and the fruit because you can get them anywhere.

There's a picture in my September dining report. We thought the food was amazing, far better than you'd expect from a character meal.

I disagree completely as it was one of the best we had in the world (we did lunch). However I will say that you must like northern European dishes (especially the buffet). My parent would disagree with me as they preferred the original Smorgasbord that was at Norway when Epcot first opened (which I would also prefer, but then Epcot eateries are not even close to being as good as when the place first opened)

Another place for us to check out in the future.. perhaps... thanks!

Agree completely, try breakfast, it's actually pretty good.

Sleeping Becca, that is exactly what I was going to say. DH looked at the menu and said he wouldn't eat the lunch or dinner food, but we loved breakfast. We loved it so much we are going to eat there on Christmas Eve and we are just 2 adults.

The cheesy potatoes are the best.

That sounds about right for the buffet. We just ate there in August for dinner and we loved it! (had the pork chop dish)

We love Akershus!

Things I remember from the buffet (we have had lunch there twice) - 3 different styles of smoked salmon with different relishes (capers, onions, etc), lots of fresh berries, meunster and jarlsberg cheese, sliced turkey and salami, green salad, potato salad, pasta salad, grilled chilled asparagus, and melon.

The venison sausage is very good.
Stay away from the dumpling/meatball dish.

And save room for dessert! :cheer2:
