AK What Are My Chances In July 2009????

Hi...What are my chances of getting a two-bedroom at Kidani in July 2009 at the seven month mark?

I will book with my home resort at 11 months for the dates we would like to travel....We are not completely set on specific dates but would like to go around the second to third week in Juky...We want to go for 8 or 9 days and stay in a two-bedroom...

We would really love to stay in the new village...Any idea on my chances at seven months? Any advice on how to book with the new policy??

Likely very high chance as long as you want savanna view point cost (80% of all rooms). Standard or value (value are at Jambo only) may be somewhat tougher. Concierge (only 5 2BR's and at Jambo only) is likely to be full. Kidani will be open then so you will have choice of building and will likely be able to get Kidani (and for either you call 7 months out unless an AKV owner; AKV owners can start reserving Kidani in Aug for May 2009 or after, everyone else just follows usual 7 month window). Late July is not a high DVC season and you can often get any the WDW resorts 7 months out for that time of year.

We just came back from a AKV June 28-July 3 and had no problem booking it this past January. We did have a Savannah view (it was wonderful).

I know that savannah view is wonderful...We stayed in a 2-bed, savanna view this past Jan. for a short trip with the kids...We want to do an extended stay in the summer and make use of the new water area that is included in the new village...

So how hot were you?

So now I wonder, do I need to make a backup reservation at my home resort at 11 months at all? We are at SSR and have no interest in staying there for our next trip...Could I just book something there at 7 months if nothing is available at AKL or another resort we would want (BC or VWL) over SSR? Any ideas?

I 'm not certain what the best way to go would be. We were doing a budget trip, staying in Vero Beach Inn Room and then AKL Studio so that may have been an easier find than 1 or 2 bedrooms. We have a two week trip booked for Xmas and needed to be frugal with the points. Last year I did book at SSR and change it at the 7 month window. This trip was last minute so I didn't have the option. I felt very lucky to get AKL for June 28-July 3rd. I know that is a busy time with your Big Holiday so close. Others may have a better idea than I would.

We didn't mind the heat at all!! This is our second year to go on those dates and although the afternoon heat is intense, not enough to keep you away from the pool. We always enjoy mornings and evenings in the parks and Relax in the afternoon. The kids are well covered up in their rash guard shirts and trunks and they have a blast too.

It 's a nice change from our annual Xmas trips when the weather can change dramatically from day to day. You know in the summer it's going to be hot and no need for a sweater or jacket.

There's no harm in making a back-up reservation and it guarantees you a place to stay. Kidani will be open for your dates but it's not clear how much of Kidani will be available for booking on points. Only the parts of the resort that have been declared can be booked on points so it depends on the pace of sales. I think there are a lot of owners who want to be among the first to stay there so there will be some competition for whatever number of rooms are available to book on points.

I understand not all rooms will be available to book by points in kadini, but as owners in Kadini and planning our June trip there, do you think the Main areas (pool, bus stops, lobby, shops, restaraunt, etc.) will be open in June of 09'? I sure hope so!

I was told that all of the supporting amenities will be open in May '09 to coincide with the first member reservations. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen of course.
