I am just about to rent points for AK Villas for our November trip. We need a 2 bedroom for our family of 6. I have never stayed at the AKL before. Any advice? I was going to book a standard view villa in order to save money. Will I be disappointed? I am traveling with my mom who has a hard time walking sometimes. Can I request a villa close to the main building? I know it will not be a guarentee. Thanks!
Good question regarding whether to get standard vs. savannah view. you will get two general lines of thought.
1) If you are going to stay at AKL/V you should only do so if you are getting a savannah view as that is what makes the resort extra special.
2) Book the more economical view as there are still PLENTY of places and opportunites to see the animals in the public viewing places.
I personally lean towards number one, unless I want to conserve points then I go with a Value villa (which is hard to get if you that's not your home resort, I doubt it will be available at this point) which still gives me a 40% chance of having a semi-decent savannah view.
The other decision many need to make is to get either Jambo (original building where AKL is at) or Kidani.
Jambo will put you closer to the quick service food counter, while Kidani doesn't have one.
If you have little kids, Kidani has the water play area that they will love.
Kidani's 2-br will also have a 3rd bathroom while Jambo will only have 2.
If you want to know, you can take a shuttle between the two buildings, otherwise it's a ~10-15 minute walk depending on where you are at in 1 building and where you are going in the other
