This will be our first time seeing a parade at AK. What is the route of the parade? Where are the best seats? What time should we stake out a place to sit? Thanks for any help.

We love the AK parade. Bacause the route is longer that some of the other parades you don't have to stake a place out quite as early. We go off season when the crowds are very low so we can grab a front row seat minutes before the start. We like to watch just as the parade makes the turn right near the Tree of Life. If you are on the side of the street across from the tree of life you are right at the park exit. When the park closses early, the parade is often just a hour before closing and everyone tries to leave about the same time. This location puts you in the position to get out and on a bus before the hords of people desend on them.Hope you enjoy as much as we do.

The parade usually starts (and finishes) in the rear of Africa next to Kilimanjaro Safaris. It crosses the bridge to Discovery Island, winds in front of the Tree of Life, crosses the bridge to Asia, and returns to Africa via the path from Asia. There are many good viewing spots; the area in front of Asia seems to be less crowded most of the time, and you can get a good spot there even after the parade starts (back in Africa). Or the area in the rear of Africa by the Harambe Fruit Market is good because you can see the beginning of the parade (line up 10 to 15 minutes ahead of time), then get some refreshment in Africa, and watch the end of the parade again about 20 minutes later!

Have a great time!

I don't remember where we were exactly, but we saw the AK parade for the first time last year and we sat in the sun which was fine for a bit, but we were melting after a while and this was in March (not typically a hot season) My suggestion is to FIND SHADE! (which is true for any of the parades!)
