AK or HS?

Going with my bf to wdw in January 2019 and we have a down day in between disney and universal hotel transfer. Our first day we are going to just explore our resort, CR and the GF and poly since we wont arrive til about 3. We are doing MK 1st full day morning then a small break then to epcot for EMH. Next day doing epcot in the morning then a break then to MK for EMH. Now comes the down day. I'm not sure if we should have a no park day inbetween disney and universal or if we should have a sleep in and do a day at AK or HS from like 11-til 8ish then grab our stuff and leave to universal hotel. Will we regret not going to a park or will we regret not exploring certain places? Im hoping pandora will be calmer since toy story will be open?

Pandora will still be a madhouse. It'll be years before it dies down.

I would hit a park and to me it would come down to Toy Story Land, Star Wars fireworks and/or Fantasmic, HS rides VS Pandora and AK rides

I would probably personally go with HS

AK and it' not even that close. DHS is a waste of time. AK has a lot more variety and has better rides.

I like both but as of right now I would pick AK. I may change my mind once the new lands open at HS.
There is just more stuff to do and see at AK.

My two favorite parks, I would splurge on hoppers and split the day between the 2 ending @ HS for Fantasmic!.
But if having to make a hard choice it would be AK, it is my favorite.

I do plan on getting hoppers so maybe we will do AK in the late morning do fop and ee with fp then go to hs ride tot and explore the new toy story area. Can you make fp for 2 different parks in one day?

I would choose to do a park that day. It's up to your personal preferences as to which one you choose. I'd go with Animal Kingdom. Even if you don't do anything in Pandora, there's Everest, Kilimanjaro Safari, Dinosaur, all the gorgeous animals, and good food options.

You have to use up the FP at one park on that day before you make them for a different park. You can only make FP for one park in advance for a particular day.

Do you recommend hoppers for first timers? The main reason i am thinking about getting them is to do a park with no emh in the morning til about 2 then taking a break at the hotel then eating dinner and going to the emh park from about 6 or 7 til closing.

I don't think it's bad to have park hoppers, but there is a lot of time to factor in getting from one place to another. It's also hard for me to recommend emh because we use the strategy of avoiding them. The parks that have emh are always busier throughout the entire day. Not that emh can't be well utilized. It's just another thing to consider. I would always make your FP for the first part of the day and then as soon as you use the third one go ahead and look for your next one.

If you do park hoppers then I would definitely do AK in the morning then finish with HS.

Rope drop Pandora, hit everything in AK.. Then have your fast passes set up for HS later in the day
