AK & MGM on marathon weekend

Hello All,

We are arriving to WDW on Jan 6, 2007 and are staying at all star sports.
We are checking in early to go directly to a park in the am. Since this
is the marathon weekend, we were thinking of going to AK or MGM (disney
studios I think now) on Saturday. Trying to stay away from Mk & Epcot.
Anyone been there at marathon time? Are the crowds at the parks manageable, or are they above average for January? I know traffic may
be a problem, that is why we want to stay around All stars for the weekend.
Anyone have any thoughts about this?

I have enjoyed reading many reports, and will say thank you all for your
wonderfull input.

I was at Epcot the day of the race a few years ago and except for the occasional smattering of applause as a group of runners went by, there was little to suggest the race was even taking place.
The crowds were nothing. Walked right on to everything (even Test Track, which was the new ride at the time).

The half marathon is on Saturday and it does not go near the Studios or the AK.

On Sunday the full marathon will go through all four parks, but as PanamaMike mentioned before, there is little to no impact on park attendance.

Wow, that was fast!! Thank you both for your information.
I was hoping this would still be a good time to go, but I was worried about
crowds. I guess now all I have to do is wait until January. Wishing it was next
