AK --> AKL for dinner - Easy or no?

A few Animal Kingdom eating questions...

We are planning some time at AK in November and we have already had a meal a Tuskar House. I was thinking we would head over the AKL to eat dinner. Is that an easy trip? We often go to Chef Mickey from a day at MK and then back. Would AK -->AKL --> AK be a similar trip? We have our own car, if that makes a difference.

AND, if that's easy to do, which TS meal at AKL would everyone recommend for some tame-ish kid eaters, ages 12, 8, and 7?

Thank you for your help!

Forgot to add - NO Rainforest Cafe! :)

Boma is a great choice since it's a buffet and you can try a little bit of everything. Great choices for picky eaters and some "different" things for the more adventurous. And we've done that after a day at AK relying on Disney buses and it's been easy enough. Should be even easier if you've got your own car!

Thanks - I was looking at the menu online and couldn't tell if the Boma buffet had some "normal" stuff for the kids. Good to hear that they should be able to find something.

Easy to do and Boma!
We went last year with 11/7/5 year olds and they loved it.

We also really liked Boma and it's a super easy under 5 minute drive from AKL parking lot to AK.

Driving anywhere in WDW is easy, except MK. We drive from AK to AKL for dinner at Boma (love it) every visit. Since you'll be returning to AK, you could certainly take the AK bus to the resort and back to the park though.

Do they like pasta and meatballs? We have eaten there twice and this is what my daughter gets every time. They also have lots of fruits and salads that I think most kids will like. They also have carved meats that aren't spicy unless you use the various sauces on them. Plus, there are tons of yummy desserts.

The fun thing about AK to AKL is that you're a short distance away on Disney transportation, if you go to Boma, there is literally something for everyone. Sliced beef, ham or turkey, lots of salads, mashed potatoes, soup, a kids buffet area with choices and tons of various desserts. Fresh fruit, vegetables, breads etc.

The great part about being at AKL is the night time animal viewing! It's fun and gives you a good idea of a Savannah at night.

I would take the time to look at the menu for Sanaa. See if there is anything your family would enjoy. The food is so good and the atmosphere is nicer as you don't have to get up and go to the buffet. You could then walk from AKV to AKL and still watch the animals, or hear a story at the fire pit.

You can't go wrong either way!

We love Boma and my 2yo does really well at the buffet. There's always a carving station, and they usually some fairly basic rice beyond the basic kid choices. Most of the time we go to the world we make it a point to go to Boma for breakfast and dinner. It's an easy drive too! Have a great trip!

In November, it is likely that AK will close at 5pm, so the buses may not be running to AK depending on how late your dinner is. I'd just drive your own car from AK to AKL. It is definitely worth it! Save time to walk around the lodge and view the animals.

Boma is our favorite, and our kids (now 14 and 12) love their mac and cheese. They aren't adventurous eaters, but they always find plenty to eat, and Boma is their most requested meal. We're eating there this Oct but are doing breakfast (which we also love).

We also enjoy Sanaa, and if you can get a 5pm ADR, and you get a table near a window, you can eat overlooking the savanna (check sunset time). The food is great, and the animals can be pretty entertaining. Sanaa is at the Kidani Village section of AKL/AKV, so if you go that route, make sure you get off at the Kidani stop, not the Jambo stop.

Nuh uh. AK will have year round evening hours starting shortly. They may close earlier in the winter, since the night time show will likely start at 7:00 or 7:30; but it certainly won't close as early as 5.

I got a Boma for 5 pm! If AK actually closes at 5:00 that day, we'll be done in the park anyway. But, if they are open later (which I'd guess they will be), we can eat and go back over for night time stuff! Thanks so much for all the suggestions!
