AJ is back on the Iwo Jima

I got a short e-mail from AJ on Monday. They are back on the boat, in port somewhere. He said he is safe, having fun in port and trying to get his clothes clean from Mosul!

Hopefully I'll hear from him soon that packages and letters have caught up to them.

That's great news!!! My son is on his way back to Kuwait tomorrow and I'm just thankful for that!

Oh thanks, but they wont' be home until at least November...

They were going out whether the war happened or not so they have to stay for their scheduled time.

It's ok the kids and I are haivng fun and I"m learning all about disney for our March trip.

Will pass the word along to the girls on Monday. They have one more care package being put together - should go out by first of the week. I presume they are coming home by ship so it should catch up with them?

THe guys on the Iwo Jima will NOT be back until at LEAST November so you can send care packages to them for at least six more months..

They are just getting some free time in Mosul this weekend.

But, we just had our first homecoming for the 24th MEU last weekend adn the next homecoming here will be in late June , so many of my friends will get their spouses back.

califred is right! These boys are all out until November. OF course we've heard a rumor that it might be September!

So please keep sending letters & packages!

And maybe we can plan a Homecoming/Dis meet for the fall!

Septemeber is when they origianlly should have come home, but there is almost zero chance of that happening at this point, if anythign they will be out longer than until November as their relief are not scheduled to head out unti February.

I mean if they get back in September spectacular, my hubby wont' miss my sons' first birthday , but until I see his helicopter flying over my house I'm not believing it

Thanks Barb. I wasn't quite sure how all of this worked but was mentioning it to DS & DH at dinner last night and as they are both military "buffs" they were able to "splain to this Lucy" that all Naval ships have a detachment of Marines and that it sounded like these were them.

So I will finish up the box of goodies and we will get it on the way.
