Over the last 6 months I have looked at airtran flights out of orlando to dc several times and almost booked them but then decided I am too afraid to fly.

I am looking at a flight tomorrow, and the flight has 16 seats taken on the whole plane. It has been like that everytime I've looked at a flight with them, it has been WAY less than 1/2 full.

Has anyone actually flown airtran and had it be that empty? Tomorrow night is a nonstop that leaves at 8:30 pm I thought it would be chockfull of people.

Every flight I have been on has been completely full. Not everyone pays for seating assignments, so they don't appear on the seat map. The map will look totally different after the 24 hour check in window opens up.

I figured something was weird with the map. I knew their had to be something more! Thanks!

When my mom & I flew Airtran for the first time we had a connecting flight in Atlanta to Orlando. The plane was probably half empty. We sat in our assigned seats & the flight attendant came thru & told us we didn't have to sit "on top of each other" & could spread out if we wanted. This was in January 2008 in the afternoon (4ish maybe).
Other than that, I've always been on mostly full flights with Airtran.

Our flight out of MCO to DFW on May 15 is full and the seating chart shows it. There are only 6 empty seats showing, I just hope they haven't overbooked the flight! I know from reading most seem to not pre-purchase their seats, we did though..... and it looks like everyone else did too!
