AirTran: Is Credit given if fare drops? (newbie Q)

This may be a stupid question.... but here goes...

We have always flown Southwest and therefore haven't ever had to worry about baggage fees. But this year I'm finding better fares on AirTran. So my question is about baggage fees. The 1st bag is $20. Does this mean 1st bag per passenger? So my family of 5 will have to pay $20 for each of our 5 bags (1 bag each) or do we have to pay the increased baggage fee for each bag?

The $20 fee for the first checked bag is per person.

I know I'm getting here late but I figured this board might be better than that discussion on the Budget board right now.

I saw someone ask this question over there and saw that Airtran does do credits BUT when I called they said since I booked through Disney, I'd have to speak to them instead.

Has anyone had any luck getting credits/refunds on a lower airfare through Disney?

Thank you so much for posting about the credit, I did not know Airtran offered them. I just called and got a credit of $454 for our return flight!! I will keep checking for price drops on the flight to MCO. I was not charged any fee and the credit went into my A+ account (I checked, it's there).

Yes, you do have to call whomever you booked the flights through to get credits. I never have booked flights through Disney, but i did through AMEX once and they called Airtran and Airtran did the credit. I have never been charged a change fee or phone fee for anything having to do with credits for flights. I am a A+ rewards member and being one does have it's perks. Usually I can use my credit online when I check in for bags and for business class upgrades. The one time the credit didn't show on line was when I booked through AMEX. Now I always book through AirTran directly and we use their trip protection which seems to be cheaper and through the same company.
We LOVE AirTran and are dreading the SW buyout!

I just got a $179 credit from Airtran this morning after I discovered they're having a sale. Checked my itinerary, and sure enough, prices dropped. I called, now I have $179 credit for one year.

Note that your credit is good for one year from when you purchased your tickets and not one year from today.

Yes, thanks. I just purchased last week so I've still got 51 weeks left! Not a problem, there. :)

That's good! Hopefully AirTran will still be AirTran 51 weeks from now. Otherwise - it will probably be a Southwest credit.

I'll be using that credit long before that, but yes, I hope Airtran is around as long as possible. I read that it's taking SW longer than they thought to transition due to their very old reservation system and some other complications.

I noticed my flight for 4 people went down this morning for August. I was on hold with AirTran for about 15 minutes. In that 15 minutes, 3 of the seats got sold, so I only got a $17 credit for 1 ticket!:( I guess, better than no credit!:)

How do they issue the credit back? Credit for each person or for whoever booked the airfare.

How do they issue the credit back? Credit for each person or for how ever booked the airfare.

I once booked 4 flights and paid while signed in to my A+ account. The price went down, I got a credit for each of the 4 that showed up in my account, didn't have to use it on the same 4 people, ended up applying it to 2 of the 4 people on a different trip later.

I called Disney today and they said they could not reimburse a difference in flight cost. The reasoning was that Airtran issues credits and they (Airtran) won't credit back Disney because it's not a direct reservation between the guest and the airline.

THANKS to this thread, I now have a credit of $106.00 towards a future flight or baggage fee. :thumbsup2

I have been watching our flights with no change... last night remembered I hadn't checked or the day...took a look...dropped $279. Yea!! Received credit back! ::yes::

Checked this morning...right back up to original amounts:crazy2:

Keep checking!
