AirTran Credit Caution!

Just a heads up! If you call to get a credit from AirTran because of a fare drop, and you paid to select your seats, make sure you don't lose that in the process. DH called and got us a credit because the fares dropped $10 for the way down trip. He told me it was a $64 credit which I thought was the $40 plus taxes on it. Boy was I wrong, I went online to double check everything after and they gave me back $24 for the seat selection fees on that flight
After I had heart failure and thoughts of my kids ending up away from us (it also crossed my mind of a stranger sitting next to my very precocious 5 year old DD trying to skydive off the plane ) DH called them back and got us our original picks back.
Just make sure you don't lose that in the process if it's important to you! But on the up side we have $40 to help offset the luggage fees! woo hoo!

The same thing happened to us the other day and luckily I did the same thing you did and checked our seat selection to find out there was none. I just re-selected them and used the credit to re-purchase them. I called AirTran and spoke to a csr who told me the original rep was supposed to re-designate the original seats. Both reps had major attitude like the did not like giving credit. Not big fans of AirTran.

I have a credit for our seat selection...but still have my seats pre-selected. They changed my flight and they moved me to a new flight and the guy gave me back the money I paid since they changed our flight. I am now worried...running over to check my account!!

I wasn't able to re-do the seat selection online because there was a system problem last night and it said I must call.
I don't mind AirTran so much, we've used them once to disney for the 4 of us and once to Vegas for just DH and I. It's all I've ever flown, but it does the job and my flights have always been on time, clean, and pleasant.
We plan on using the credits in Indy for our outgoing baggage fees )
I think you can use the credits on anything, baggage, another flight, seat selection, whatever.

If your original airfare drops just call AirTran and ask for a credit! Our original fare has dropped twice so we have a couple credits that you have a year to book and use credits by.
