Airtran Carseat checked baggage ?

If I check our carseats(2)and stroller(1) with our bags will they charge for those? It is my understanding they won't charge if theyre gate checked correct. I don't want to lug those through security if I don't need to.

I think if you check them you have to pay for them..... Gate checking is so far free!
