WE are thinking about flying Airtran Branson Mo to Orlando in March.Has anybody done this yet?? Would save us the trip of driving to KC. No help with the Spfd mo airport.. Can we trust Airtran?? Thanks.

Don't know if this helps, but just flew AirTran from Branson yesterday. There are only 2 departures daily, approx 2:30 p.m. and then at 5:37 p.m.. You will change planes in Atlanta and don't arrive until approx 7:30 p.m. if you take the 2:30 flight. Also the fare is a lot higher than the Kansas City airport. KC does have a non-stop at around 10 a.m.. We flew into Branson to visit our daughter in Springfield and checked on flights as our daughter and grand daughter will be coming with us to WDW next December and wanter to get an idea about fares and times.

Non-stop Branson-Orlando flights on AirTran operate on Saturdays.

Have flown Airtran the past 3 years and havent had any problems with them. Delayed once due to weather, but thats out of their control. Only bad thing is going thru Atlanta. I dont like the crowds, delays. Get non-stop if you can.

We flew Branson to MCO in November. The issue we had was that we booked a couple of months early and then they changed the schedule. Totally messed up our plans. We were getting off a cruise and they changed our flight home to a earlier one that we could not make after getting off the boat that morning. We ended up having to stay over until the next day since none of the Allegiant flights back that day worked either. What a pain!
The worst part is, we really liked Airtran and thought the Branson airport was very nice and super easy. Even though we had to change planes, we just got off one and right on to the other one; no issues. So, I guess I have a mixed review for you. If I thought I could trust them I would book them again, but ?????? Anyway, they are having a sale now and they actually are cheaper than Allegiant for our May trip when I priced both all the way through.

Sorry about not knowing about Saturday's. We usually go Sun thru Fri because the points are lower for DVC members those days. But just checked and yes there is a non-stop on Saturday afternoons.

We ended up booking on SW out of KC, got a good rate. We live in SW mo so the branson airport would have been great. Airtran had a good fare, just not enough flights in out of Branson. So we will drive to KC...And no help with Allegiant out of Spfd, wrong days flying out and back for us...

Good choice on switching from AT to SW. I have flown both several times and just this week returned from WDW via Airtran. We tried to cut a few corners going the "cheaper" route using AT and definitely paid for it in the long run. First, $60 added for baggage fees (2 bags, round trip), which I knew about beforehand, but considering that they manhandled our luggage so badly that both pieces now need immediate replacing will cost even more. AT employees didn't seem the least bit concerned about my complaint regarding this.

Next, we didn't pay the extra for the reserved seats, so my wife and I were deliberately split up. When we got to the gate the agent gladly fixed it so we could sit together and even acknowledged that the seats to either side of one of us were wide open. This happened on the departure and the return flight, so it seemed quite obvious that the company wanted us to pay extra to "guarantee" that our party might not be split up.

The departing plane seats were the most uncomfortable things I ever sat in and many seats on the plane had disgusting stains and the fabric was torn and in some places completely missing. The flight crew was rude and never even explained why our flight was delayed mid-air for an extra hour.

Plus, AT seats are so small that even a normal sized person would be uncomfortable. I'm 6'1", 190 lbs, so I'm not a huge person, but I literally had less than 2 inches from my knees to the seat in front and had to squeeze my shoulders in for the entire flight.

Southwest doesn't offer guaranteed seating (at least not the last time I could fly with them), but I recall their seats being roomier, more comfortable and since you could choose your seats it was easier to stay with your party when you flew. Plus, their staff was very friendly and made the trip an overall wonderful experience.

We drive from NW Arkansas to KC to fly on SW as well! I'm with you, I'd love a closer option but I haven't been able to beat SW's prices out of KC. Last time the 4 of us flew for $468 roundtrip, and this coming vacation it's $571.
