Planning on flying standby on a morning flight (As per several people at Airtran - no additional charge since it is the same day as the flight). Currently there are 14 seats available - and planning to get to the airport 4 hours early .....

Has anyone done this ?

Second question - how strict is Airtran with luggage weights ? Never flown them before - will they nail you for being a pound or two over ?

Thanks!

I don't know about the stand by stuff, but the weight, yes they will make you take some stuff out.

We were like 4 pounds over on our way home. She just had us grab a few things out and we put it in our carry-on.

The funny thing was, they didn't then take the luggage right from us.. We had to walk it over to the scanner and we could have just put the stuff right back in. We didn't but there was nothing stopping us.
