Just found out from a friend who works for an airline that you can an EMPTY water bottle through TSA and then fill it up on the other side. I hate paying $3 (or more) for a bottle of water when I travel.

Where are you going to fill it up.......the bathroom???

You can bring any empty container through security, as long as it's within carryon size. I think there are water fountains by the bathrooms...

yes. We always travel with empty water bottles and fill past security. I also, about 6 months ago, purchased one of the individual water bottles that has a water filter attached. That way I don't worry (as much) about the "cruddy" water one can encounter in different places. We always fill at the water fountains but I am glad to know that some of the restaurants will do it.

Yep, that's what we do - travel with our refillable stainless steel water bottles for both air and car travel. Way cheaper and more environmental than the disposable (recyclable) plastic bottles. Every airport I've been to has drinking fountains around.

As for drinking fountain water, which some folks turn their noses up at - municipal water is typically much more regulated than bottled water...and because bottled water is so popular, they're likely to not see a lot of use, so I don't worry about germs etc.

Any brands on those filter-included bottles?

I have one made by New wave enviro and a quick search online found another company pure water 2go that sell the filters and you can put it on any plastic bottle you have.

Also, you can get them filled when you are on the plane - I wait until after they are done serving and ask the attendant to fill it. Then you can continue to drink water throughout your flight. I drink a lot of water and also try to get it refilled prior to landing so I have it with me till I get to my hotel, etc.

We've done this for years. When we don't our travel mugs/bottles, we empty one of our regular water bottles and refill it on the other side.

Other people do it all the time too. At some airports, there are short lines at the water fountain just to refill. Most people are smiling, because you just saved $ by not buying a fresh water bottle for your flight.

Something I had to share. I also shave the stainless steel bottles for DD3, the kind with the flip-top and a straw (funtainers by thermos). We were on our way to a cruise and DH got us 1st class using points. He opens the lid on the funtainer after take-off, the straw pops-up and apple juice goes streaming out, over his head and sprays the guy behind him who is sound asleep! :rolleyes1 I swear it looked like the jumping fountain in Epcot! Another time we flew I forgot about the 'spray-effect' and water came pouring out all over again. During take-off you need to keeep the lids open on stainless steel bottles if they have any liquids in them!

Oh, and BTW, Disani bottled water is Municipal water so many are already drinking it and don't know it!

I just did this for our Disney trip....took two big empty water bottles. Bought a gallon of spring water at Walgreens just outside of Downtown Disney. Filled the bottles with ice, then topped themoff with cold water each morning. It worked great. We had cold water until early afternoon in the parks and was a lot cheaper than paying park prices.

I googled this and it looks great.. which one do you use? the reg bottle one (fits on like a poland springs bottle) or the sports top one

I would like to find one that fits my naglene bottle.. its a 32 oz bottle does any one know if theres one that fits the 32oz bottles?

TIA
Jill
