Any tips? Anything I need to worry about? We will have a rental car - do I need to rent something to pay tolls? (I seem to remember something about some roads not taking cash)

Any tips for the drive to / from Delray Beach? (we will be spending two nights there)

Any tips / help would be greatly appreciated!

ps - please ignore typo in heading. Typed too fast and couldn't fix with edit.

Best tip I can offer is do NOT take 95. Take the turnpike all the way south. 95 at the best of times is dangerous...it's not unusual to see people doing 85 in the slow lane. You won't run into any cashless toll lanes between Disney and Delray, so you do not need to rent an expensive sun pass from the rental agency.

Agree completely!!! I drove from DTD to Pompano Beach, just south of Delray...it was a nightmare once I picked up 95!!! Much better to stay on Fl Turnpike and then grab 806 (I think it is) into Delray!!!
95 was probably the scariest thing I have even driven...and I drive 128 in Mass with no issue!!!! 85 in the right lane is really hard when you don't know where you're getting off!!!

The Budget rental car site indicated that there are no more cash tolls - is this definitely correct? Thanks!

From the Miami-Dade county line south, there are no more cash tolls. Everything north of Miami-Dade (including all of where you're going to be driving) still has cash toll lanes. You will be fine, I promise. The Budget car rental site, I fear, is trying to scare renters into paying for something unnecessary...and reaaaaaaaallly expensive...

There definitely are cash tolls so be prepared with the correct change. Many require the exact change.

Another option is to buy a mini-Sunpass. These can be purchased at Publix grocery store and at CVS pharmacies.

If the car rental place is trying to "rent" you a pass, that is pretty lame...IMHO.

Whether you take the Turnpike or I-95, you will want to take Atlantic Avenue exit which is the main street in Delray.

I think you are going to LOVE Delray!

I'm wondering if you will be here for the month of December? We have great holiday festitivies all month long! The biggest deal is our 100-foot Christmas tree which you can tour inside of it, a holiday carousel and ice skating and more!

Last night, we just lit our 100-foot Christmas tree and approx 40,000 people were downtown for the event!

It was amazing!
