Airport Security Question

I am taking my daughter to WDW for her 13th birthday. I wanted to pack a few WRAPPED presents into my checked luggage (not carry-on). Will they make me unwrap them? She is an avid pin collector and its several WDW pins wrapped separately. Has anyone packed their lanyard and had it look suspicious to the X-ray people?

My daughter is not supposed to know where we are going until we arrive at the WL (she thinks it's a business trip). If they pull that stuff out it will ruin the surprise. Any thoughts or tips?

Thanks!:wave2:

Call your airline and ask, different airlines have different rules.

TSA sets the rules.

I don't know what airport you're using. I've flown 3 of the past 4 months and I noticed that the screeners are looking at checked luggage out of view. I don't foresee you having a problem with your DD seeing her surprises, but I wouldn't gift wrap them. We've found the "your bag has been checked" notice in our bags for most of our travels.

I've also transported gifts in my checked luggage. My solution is to pack a gift bag to put the items in once I arrive. :D

Yeah, It has nothing to do with your airline. I fly a lot, and I haven't had any real problems with wrapped gifts. If its a pin, they should leave them alone. I'm sure it will be fine. What are the airports... that has some impact.::MickeyMo

I think the gift bags is a great idea. That way if they have to look in them they will not be messed up.

Gift bags sound like the perfect solution. I am flying out of Pensacola, FL(PNS) to Orlando, FL (MCO). I would rather not take a chance of having unwrapped items that I can't wrap back. Thanks for the great suggestions!

P.S. Gail, that is an absolutely BREATHTAKING photo of the castle!:earseek:

Yes, I do realize the TSA sets the rules, however, the airlines would, hopefully, know the rules and hence, be able to answer the question. Also, while the TSA sets the rules, the airlines are free to add to them and make their own restrictions.
