Airport Security Children?

Okay with two days to go I'm sweating the small details now. Do my children need to carry their boarding passes through security?

No, you can hand all the passes to the security person.

No - you can carry all of the board passes for them. I don't know how old your kids are, but I had our 3 and 6 y.o.s practice going through the security gate. We practiced taking off shoes and putting things into a bin to go on the conveyor belt. They were very proud of themselves when it came time to do it for real and they knew what to do!

Don't fret--our experience has been that the agents understand that kids and their parents can get spooked by the unfamiliar easily. We've always had very courteous agents when we've flown with kids. It can be intimidating being at the front of a long line of what seem to be impatient people, but just stay calm, don't try to rush to the point of freaking out, and everything will be just fine!

Also, be aware that the agents will probably ask your children directly what their names are. Because you don't need ID for kids under 18, they can't compare boarding pass names, to IDs.

DS is 10, and has been flying since he was 4. At this point, he can navigate security checkpoints better than some adults I've seen.

Another thing we did when he was younger is to have either DH or I go through security 1st, then DS, then the 2nd adult. When I had to travel with DS alone, when he was 5, the TSA agent on the other side of the metal detector, kept him RIGHT beside her until I got through.

It will be JUST fine.

Thanks so much you all! It's true that I'm getting really hyper here. I haven't flown since before 9/11 and never with my kids. I just want to get there!

Just dont bump into the sides of the detector Ask my wife.. She brushed up against it and set it off Since I knew she had NOTHING metal on I gave her a hard time after she got thru the 2nd time without bumping it .
